Dev Blog Starbound is Leaving Orbit on 22 July!

I hope no DLC, because buying it is always very annoying. Also, Starbound just doesn't feel like the kind of game where DLC would work.

I will check out that link. However there has already been a lot of discussion about this back in august when the redist change happened. And the fixes just won't work for everyone, so the developers pushed a hotfix for the stable release that "undid" the redist requirement - that's why I can play stable but not unstable. So my question isn't really about solving my issue, but rather if the developers will have that hotfix in the 1.0 release.

 

I would not expect DLC from this game, really. And it is better that way. Or else, many other modders would just reproduce a bootleg version of said DLC.

 

Thank you so much, I just tried out the update utility. I recieved an unknown error during the install of the updated drivers. Guess what I found out when I looked up the error code.... The proper drivers that would allow Starbound to work are incompatible with the Windows 10 OS I upgraded to. This preventing me from playing a game I have been waiting a year for is the last straw. I feel like sending verbose hate mail to Microsoft. Apparently, my best option is a clean install of Windows 7 and a full reinstall of all my software to make things work again. I feel sick just thinking of all the work I'm going to have to do to downgrade back to Windows 7....

please put back the mini boss that drop a rare weapon. and remember the turret and soldier npc , putting an enemy to attack player vilage maybe like bandit or huge creature and more turret sound like a great features.starbound pirate can be cool too, maybe player ship can hijack enemy ship , ship crew can be more usefull with that.and btw please give starbound unique waepon too. like there is only one weapon that have an effect drop by spesific creature. i really like starbound its really cool game i think. goodluck guys

 

I think this is better suited as a suggestion mate, tho I might be wrong.

 

After 2 years of waiting after my initial play of starbound I shall now return on the 22nd putting way monster hunter generations and murder--I mean adventure my way across the universe

YHAAAAAAASSSSSSSS !! I've been holding out on playing any Starbound since I learned that the release is comming soon. I wanted to play it in it's intended glory especially the story and boss bits. The wait with no date was painful but now it is over . Thank you Chucklefish devs you made a remarkable game that we will enoy for years to come

Microsoft these last 5 years really needs a dope slap upside their collective heads.

They are FORCING Win10 on EVERYBODY who can remotely run it, even if their machines have no business attempting to run it. Win10 is supposed to be "for gamers" but yet those with older PCs or PCs with lower hardware should not be jumping into a new OS because of things like the workarounds you mention not working in said newer OS.

I am sorry to hear of your woes in having to "downgrade" back into Win7, hopefully you don't get hit with that stupid GWX auto-update bug.

Oh, and... get a removable drive of some sort and copy the whole steamapps\common\ folder. The copy process will take awhile (esp if you're using a USB external HDD) but It will make reinstalling everything MUCH faster.

 

Never10, friend. It's just one of a few steps, but it's a big and important one.

Welp, that sure took a while. Lets only hope it was worth it.

 

I knew that much, as they haven't been a tech for awhile.
(Just concerned of their fate, as we haven't seen hide nor hair of them in Unstable or for 1.0)

As much as the updates were ok, I can' wait for the game to get 100% finished so modders can take over.

That is why I don't want to update to Windows 10 - lots of problems with games and programs. And Windows be like - install me, install me! Only until 29.07. INSTALL ME!
