So, Tiy, has been trying to find a female voice actress for starbound. Soooo, does this mean that starbound will have voice acting. Tiy also said it's gonna be a made-up language. Here's what we got so far: Fa'na cdilg uh drec cdydeuh. Who the balls knows what that means. Well, does anyone remember the screenshot with the penguin saying gimme all ur pixels? He had a speech bubble over his head. Tell me what you think. ;)

If its good, then more power to them. I still want an option to turn it off if I don't like it though.

It's not gonna be fully "voice acted'

There's gonna be a fake gibberish language that plays when people talk. Like in the Sims or whatever

Or it could be when your character grunts, cry's or what ever after being hit or when they decide to vocalize every attack like link :)

Oh yeah, i forgot that tiy said it was a made up language. UPDATED OP.

EDIT: Fa'na cdilg uh drec cdydeuh... hmmmm. I wonder what that means. But First things first, how the heck do you pronounce that? I'm gonna guess, Pha-nu seed-ilg uh dreak seed-id-eeuh.

  6. Yeah, it's a made-up language (there's a sample reading by @mollygos that Tiy said "sounded good"). Tiy also tweeted IHasCupQuake to see if she was interested in voice-acting for the game.

I just hope there will be an option to turn off the voices. The music for the game has got me excited, just from the lighting video, and I don't want chatter in the way of such win! I'm alright with some voice acting, if its done well, just yeah. Optional, please. :3

Hmm. Well, I've been playing around with what it could possibly be, given the context of Starbound. What seems to make the most sense, assuming they're using a standard cipher where you simply substitute one letter for another, is "We're stuck on this station."

Just gotta hit the apostrophe'd word first, then the two letter word which can only be "a few" possibilities. Find commonly used letters in the code, and try them with commonly used letters in English. Upon analyzing it, I've noticed that Vowels only change into vowels. So every word will have a vowel. This might be to better be able to pronounce it. Using this knowledge, one can assume some characters might have spoken dialogue. It might also be just to make the words look cleaner, in case we ourselves might want to pronounce them to ourselves for fun.

As for consonants, I have not the slightest clue what they did to them. Is there some sort of Key I overlooked?

But this has very little to do with the actual topic. :/

I'd love to have voice acting, to be honest, but that can make the file size expand quite quickly.

I won't mind some minor voice acting if its like the Fa-ch whatever language, but it will be a nostalgia attack to hear the beep beep or the hur hur from the old school games. I liked those.

I imagine it's just combat sounds and a gibberish chatter sound to play over message boxes.

That reminds me of the universal greeting from the original Transformers movie (1980 one)

I don't mind having same kind of spoken language in game. It's a pretty good idea.

Yes, voice acting would be good, but lets face it... Chucklefish IS rich from Terarria, but if we want to get our hands on a game sooner, i suggest they leave out voice acting, and stick to something like terraria, besides, it'll test our litle brains trying to decipher a language ;)

Voice acting could work. I trust the devs to make the right decisions when it comes to voice actors but I agree with making it an option. Since it's a made up language I'm sure gameplay wouldn't be hindered in anyway if a person decided to opt out. It sounds like it could be a nice bonus if you enjoy that sort of thing. I do, especially when the language isn't one that already exists.

It could be difficult though, I'm not sure which characters would be talking but since there are so many planets you'd think they might not all speak the same language. It seems to work in Stargate though, English seems to be a universal language.
