    Hi all,

    With the new year coming out soon in 2016, I thought of some great ideas that may help better provide a longer excipernce to the game for players who actually want to play it properly. Making it so mining is not the only thing to do in the game.

    Of course we all have those moments where we the players just want to complete the game. Others want to actually enjoy it, so I wanted to make a little idea that can provide the best excipernce of Single/Multiplayer, both adding additions, nerfs, and limitations to the game.

    Please keep in mind some of this work was mostly inspired from Minecraft Mods during 2012 - 2013, as well as Terraria the game. NONE OF THIS IS PLANNED TO BE 'Copy righted'.

    Here is the quick list of mods;
    • Botania,
    • Thaumcraft,
    • Tinkers Construct
    • Walia
    • Divene RPG & Terraria
    • Biomes O Plenty

    This is meant to be a nice update that will actually make players try to build on a planet, instead of building on their space craft all day. It is great but it does have a lack of feel in the game.

    This is also meant to include Research, so you actually have to learn where planets are to go to them, using Telescopes on your home planet, or any others. Unlike Solar Systems, those need to be found with a very technical space telescope. The addition also attempts adding in more ways to farm mobs, such as meat, to avoid hunting all day. And just like starting out, you can tame some awesome friends you find <3.

    Starting Out:
    Starting out in the game can sometimes be a little to easy. To enhance that feel players will get to know more about their guide, AKA S.A.I.L, and get to know how they can help you in game at any time. The game will first introduce you normally as it should. Then after that it will introduce you to creating a house for a villager to move in, introduce you to learn how to farm, introduce you to mining, then eventually micro dungeons. Once all this is learned it will introduce you to one of the new features.

    Farming:
    Farming is one of the various ways to gain buffs in the game, instead of wanting a user to Hunt all day, why not they just farm mobs that drop meat upon death, producing mobs, etc. This is for users who prefer to do this instead of having to go out looking for meat every time. Once that ends you will be able to start making yours ores into liquids.

    Ores -> Liquids?:
    Ores into liquids, sounds complex. But not as much. If you never knew how to do this it is actually very easy to do, we do this in real life as well to produce better, more higher quality equipment. VIA Swords, fake armor, etc. Although we only do this with bullets, and other things. Its still great to have in a game like this.

    The game will introduce you to smeletry, furnaces, and crafting benches. Each of these will help you in the game allowing you to travel up to higher leveled planets, and solar systems in the future,

    Crafting Bench - Main thing to craft everything in the game (Mostly important for starter gear.)
    Furnace - To easily craft simple items. (Smelting for simple compound materials, via iron, and such.)
    Smeltery - The main thing to store liquid ores, or un needed items to later craft into something useful.

    So a quick tutorial on how to do this;
    The smeltery is needed for larger, more complex armor compounds, or more important swords. Smelterys can also be used to store liquids, or make something an other material.

    But what fuels it? Lava does, because of this Buckets will now be known as 'simple materails', buckets can be crafted by hand basically using the Furnace and crafting bench.

    Once you have your lava, you need to put it in the Smeltery to power it, it will eventually heat up the metal causing it to melt, and float ontop of liquids of a lower mass.

    Keep in mind. You can always get 2X more liquid metal with it just being an ore. If its already an armor piece, or a piece of equipment it will be transferd into the amount of materials you used it with. So if I had a plate worth 3 Iron, I can smelt that and it gives me 3 Liquid Iron.

    What About Weapons/Armor?:
    Weapons, and armor can be crafted using the Smeltery, but you will need some Metal Pieces to do so.

    Metal pieces can be crafted using Gold, or any other material that is a metal, and does not melt in low tempetures of lava. At the start, you can craft a simple Sword template, and other things using 3 - 15 Simple iron compunds, from there you will have to use materials you can only from advanced templates, to unlock the next Tier Armor (Lvl II.)

    Great! I did all of that, now what!:
    Now that you got your armor, and items, now you have to craft your first telescope using the crafting bench. This is to unlock a simple wooden telescope, for you to research planets, find there coordinates, etc.

    You are able to unlock higher ranked telescopes that are automated, to find planets outside the solar system, and that with stand attacks, or earth quakes,

    The Simple Wooden Telescope is the first tier telescope that allows you to see the starter shop, as well as a few useful planets. Such as desert, or moon planets.

    Once you find the planet you will have to calculate how far it is, how big it is, and what its made out of. Using Starbound Mythology.

    For this you will need to craft a table, get a pen and paper, then craft it into a research table. You will get three options once you interact with it.

    Blue marks drop downs that unlock the next step ones in red represent required.

    "Show found planets"
    "Show current research"
    "Theory Life on planet"
    "Theory distance away" -Unlocks gas showing how much will deplete after flight/coming back
    "Theory life" - Do research on predicting life on the planet. Shows what species may be on the planet, and shows how harmful it may be,
    "Theory basic needed survival" - Shows what is required to enter the planet once you have researched life.

    So, how do I research?
    Researching is actually a little fun, you get to play a short little mini game (a puzzle.), based on the research. You will need paper for this which you can craft from tree saplings. Ten paper per tree sapling. It is worth no value.

    If you complete the mini game, you will understand that planet. Remember you need to learn the ones in red,

    If you want to show off your research, you can hang up your 'finished research notes on your ship, or home when your done to show how 'smart' you are :).

    Along with the quest system once those two quests are completed, you will then automatically no where, how far, and how long the player shop is. This is always unlocked no matter how far in the game you are.

    Higher leveled shops have to be found with a telescope.

    Along with that researching can be automated with the government, and technoldgey at hand.

    The Government;

    Once you visted the shops, the guide will show you why you have unlocked a new player NPC at your home. That's because they have a home provided to live in at your planet.

    So how does one make a government? Government can be made on any planet, as long as NPC's can survive on it/in it. Since the Colony Update has already been added, this is perfect for adding more additions.

    So how do you make a state your territory? To do so put a flag of your race on the planet to mark it discovered, and that you have been here before. This will allow NPC's to spawn in when a house is available.

    To officially rule your government you will need a Government Center. Government Centers must be 6 X 6 X 6 Pixels/Blocks, in Length/width/or height. It can also go over. This will allow you to start giving your NPC's jobs, from making buildings, to discovering new technology, and more while your on your adventures! Of course NPC's must have the equal rights of the place they live in, proper job payment, etc to make sure they live their.

    Of course this is not needed, but if you don't prefer to constantly have to do everything yourself, this may help.

    And similar to the people, they need showers, stores, food, and other such things as you become more powerful.

    Rights, and laws can also be enabled/disabled. (Full list coming soon.)

    Yes military, is also a thing }:}.

    You can also encounter foes and other things, which is why the military is so important, so you don't have to 1 v 30 everything.

    More coming soon TM[DOUBLEPOST=1450804269][/DOUBLEPOST]Edit:

    Yes I am aware that this is on the wrong thread.
    The thread will be switched to Starbound -> General Discussion -> Suggestions. Sorry everyone :/.
