StarBound Demo.

Hello all, I am not sure if there is or will be a StarBound Demo, but I only wish to try the game before actually playing the full version; out of curiosity and excitement.

 

If you want a demo it will take a few months off of beta completion time...

 

Perhaps you're right, but then, the team could just release a small part.

 

Probably should do one alongside the release of the full game. Not alongside the beta.

 

There'll be a huge amount of YouTube series' being created the moment the game is released in alpha/beta/whatever-else-there-is (potentially one by me too ), so if you want to know if you'll like it, just look up a series.
This is just how internet Let's Play videos work, this is a game that's been hyped up just enough to the right audience, so people who create videos know there will be demand for them, and people who want to watch videos know they'll be there.
I'm gonna place a bet on how long it'll take for the first Let's Play video of Starbound to be released, I'm going with 30 minutes. Someone'll record a video for 15 minutes, add a quick intro (or not), and have fast upload speed (unlike me ) so it'll get up fast.

If you really do want to play a demo is to wait for full release or late beta. Then the closest thing you can get, that is full version and at the same time legitimate, is have a friend that owns it on Steam.

Steam Family Sharing beta is going on so yeah, that's a thing.
Don't expect to play Multiplayer with the guy you're sharing with though
Maybe after that, you'll be convinced to buy the game!

 

I'm a YouTuber, too, ya know? If I get the game for free or cheap, then I'll do a walkthrough too.

Perhaps, I guess. Why not play Multiplayer? Is it in early development or will it not be put in the Beta?

Why would you get the game for free/cheap? I hate to say it, but I really doubt any "Media" are going to get the game, perhaps only the giant channels with upwards of 500,000 subscribers. Then again, you'd think those channels could buy it anyway, considering the price. There will be enough YouTubers that bought the game in full and creating videos for there to be no point giving the game to media.

 

A demo seems kind of pointless at this point, since it will be an 'open' beta...

Unless their going to make a demo I see no point for it; (Demo = beta release delayed, thus a demo has some purpose, No demo = Release soon, no point for a demo) and even if there was some 'need' for a demo due to long release wait Demos are usually used for checking gameplay, though even that has been changed by both PirateBay and Youtube Let's Plays.

So really, I see no point for a demo.

 

Actually, everybody does their own kind of walkthrough for each game, that's what I do.

Yes, though the open beta point of mine was to show that the demo wouldn't be used as a way to play the game before release as there's already a way.

 

My point being, unless you're a giant channel you're not going to get a free or cheaper copy of the game.

 

Releasing a Demo will pretty much make the BETA release longer because they need to work in the DEMO than the BETA

 

at its lowest it only costs 15$ not like it would be a huge impact

 

There should be a demo released after the game is out of beta. I don't care if there will be less updates, a demo is a must. Back when I had a laptop, I had to pirate games without demos to see if I could actually run the game, then decide if I wanted to buy the game or just delete the files and move on.

 

Like they said you can run this in a very old mac book, and there's youtube to see gameplays now and stuff

 

Demos will surely decrease the amount of refund requests and reduce the amount of pirates.
