I agree completely. But you can't really change things. People are people. And we are at an age of instant access. So once we see something taking long we rush. And you are also right about the two year thing. I think it's great it's coming in order instead of a rushed deadline game that becomes unfinished and needs help from updates and dlc. Long story short people need these types of comments for a slap in the face of realiy.

Yeah, I did a bit more research and put myself at ease. Should've read a few more comments. I hate that ChuckleFish always gets such a bad rap. I think it's due to the fact that the game is so popular, so there's a higher percentage of people who wine. No tomention kids will be attracted to the games art style and any kid with a keyboard and an opinion will voice said opinion as loudly as possible on the forums.

yer this is starbound tho terraria is crap in comparison, I own them both, Starbound all the way!! and no you wont have to repurchase version 1.0 for closure on that subject.

xbox 360 controller support for starbound will be epic for me. as I have a quad core laptop, connected to HD TV I close lid on laptop and need this support, as my wireless keyboard bluetooth adaptor saw the bad temper of my laptop carry case and snapped in the port. boohoo.

performance under win10 10240 is superb, I can run at 1080p now. MS did something right with DX11.2/DX12 for once. expect a 20/50% performance boost. dependant on your graphics card. mine is about 25% quicker with DirectX games, under Windows 10 then Windows 8

Todd Howard has stated that PC mods do work just fine on console versions of their games. You just slap them in and enable them. The reason they were never allowed before is due to legal restrictions by Microsoft and Sony with user created content on their closed platforms, which makes perfect sense, as well as the lack of a command console to allow proper testing, mods could cause players to get stuck and unable to resolve any problems they may run in to. A mod could literally ruin their game because they don't have access to some features.

Fallout 4 is a new game on a new console with new usage agreements. While its not confirmed, it is looking very likely that mods will be coming to consoles in some fashion.

I'm so sorry you guys have to deal with all this crap. Fun to hear the game will have controller support. Hopefully the UI is going to be more customizable once it's converted over to Lua.

  10. To be fair, you'd probably complain just as much, if not more, if they simply let you assume the Starbound team was developing every little thing on their own (which people have done before / remember the tshirts?)

But to the point -- you DON'T have to take Chucklefish's word for it. That's how most ports are developed in the industry. By third parties. Usually third parties that are more familiar with developing software for those platforms. Big companies do (and sometimes handle) this (like Square-Enix, Ubisoft, Rockstar Games...) and little companies too (like Re-Logic).

Sorry everything during development hasn't gone as predicted -- but it doesn't mean it was false. No one's lying and out to get you or anything. So I recommend dropping the condescension immediately. It isn't criticism you're offering here. You're simply making a stink about things that can no longer be changed, and would have had to of taken their paths anyways. For example; 2013 release. Game simply wasn't done, they misjudged their time table. Should they have just shipped it just to say they made their 2013 goal? Can you even imagine the complaints following THAT decision?

So yeah. If you don't trust CF's word, that's fine. But it's also, by all accounts, your own problem. Don't make it anyone else's.

That guy was little right about all these "hating" stuff. You said it like he is a sick and he can infect (with hating??) another people by only saying what he thinks about it. If someone is saying all the good stuff about CF then it's good, but when someone criticizes CF then moderators are coming in no time. We need to rember to don't be rude (or be rude to much), so you guys should remember that we bought Starbound and have right to not be happy about everything what happen in CF. We can't do anything about it of course, but if people wouldn't complain about things they can't change then there would be no haters on this world or/and all these religions, abortions, homo discussions on the internet.

I'm little sad about that info too, but i don't blame CF for anything they're doing. We're only users, we don't know anything about how much cash their have and if they need cash for their personal life.

The issue here isn't not liking the game, the issue is that it breaks forum rules. You're welcome to say "I absolutely hate the game and here's why:" and present your calm and collected argument. That's perfectly reasonable. Most people, however, go "CF lies to all of us and wants to sell an unfinished game because they're only in it for money you all suck blahblah". The forum rules are in place for a reason, not just to look pretty. I've personally had to warn users who were defending Starbound/Chucklefish because they were attacking another member in the process of doing so.

Overall what I'm saying is: You're more than welcome to have your opinion, just don't be a dick about it.

"Sure. We have to take them by their words once again. Words which were proven false over and over again since 2013.

They have another team working on the console version. PC folks, don't be alarmed. Core SB team is still there...
They have another team working on the other CF game. PC folks, don't be alarmed. Core SB team is still there...
They are just publishing other games. PC folks, don't be alarmed. Core SB team is still there and assume publishing takes absolutely no human and financial resources..."

I'm new here and i don't what CF was saying in 2013, but i think that he this guy was so "no-dick" to argument (he write that using sarcasm though, sometimes too much sarcasm don't work well) why he thinks that we shouldn't believe CF (i believe though, they have money from this game of course, but they put so much work in it, if they didn't something then not because they're dicks). And when i was saying about "moderators come in no-time" i was talking about "lessons" (if you know what i mean ^^) from moderators when someone is criticizes than about warning. It's obvious for me than if someone is literally talking about someone like about a shit then he need to be warned, even if he is defending CF.

"Most people, however, go "CF lies to all of us and wants to sell an unfinished game because they're only in it for money you all suck blahblah"
We all know that they must like this work if they are here for so long time, but i must say that by developing all these games CF they make a nice cash ^^ Though i don't think Starbound team have much from it ;D

So the Starbound brainstorm continues... So we have a separate team for Pc, a separate team for xbox one, and a separate team for Tiy's pirate game? How many teams do we need to build before can finish 1 project ? Couldn't we just pull the teams together to get this finished? Spreading your resources like this hasn't worked out so well in the past so why would this be different ?

    But yay for controller support.

Protip, don't let your console team be like 505 Games. Console players have been lagging behind PC in Terraria for years.

    Hi Kashmir.
As I have understand it correct, they would bring Starbound for Consoles only after they have released the 1.0 Version on PC, what means, that the Game would be a Full Game to this Time and not an early access anymore.

So there shouldn't be such Problems as you fear, should it come out on consoles. ;-)

And for some others here: As it was said before, to convert a Game that runs to windows 7, 8 and 10 to the Xbox One is more easy then to PS4, because of Hardware Architecture and yes the operating system.

Same goes for Ipad Apps, that runs on Apple OS and Android Stuff, that is converted one or the other way to be usefull on both Plattforms.

Or to use another Term: Try to Play an old Nintendo Game on a Sega System or other around, that wouldn't function, even if the Hardware would be compatible in some points.
(For example, you could not use Mega Drive CDs in a Game Cube or vice versa. ^^ )

Same for PC Games on Consoles... and I know most here know this allready, but I only would say it.
    No offense. ;-)

    Back to this Main Theme:
I had written something before, but forgot to write my biggest fear on this term:
That the Starbound Crew makes a big mistake and the Game will end up like Darkout!

The Team has made some major mistakes, the Game was great, but the Code was a total mess.
Then the mein Programmer find a better paid job in another company, and let the Team alone with a confusing programmed Game.
Because of this, the "in Work" Multiplayer Part never came.
Then they decided to put the Game on the Unity Engine (In true that all was nearly to the same Time), but after 2 Years, the Game stagnates!
No real Communication between Community and Devs, only one content patch in the whole Time with some fixes, then the Game Engine became Problems with actual NVIDIA Drivers, but the Devs couldn't do something and then, so April to May this year, they said the Money would go out on them, and blame the Buyers to only buy the Game if it was in a steam sell to a lower Price.

The Game was great, but now it is on a dead track. I'm sorry for the Algraff Team, but this is something they had done, and where the Buyers and the Com, as small as it has become over the years, can not help it,

What they do now is to make another Game, a little one that should bring in a small amount of money to go on producing Darkout AND the upcomming "DLCs", that before should cost nothing, will now cost something.
AND: The First DLC should be only the compleate conversion of the Game to the new Engine, so it would be that the Game must buyed twice, to use it in its new version.

The Shitstorm on Steam isn't SO great like by other Titels, but more because the ex Comm has lost trust and hope in and for the Game allready.

What I like to say is, I really, REALLY hope, that the Chuckle Fish Team won't make a similar Error, and won't ruin the Game with this.
... Okay, maybe not so long... Okay, since the last post. xD

I hope I could make myself understandable. Was the biggest english Text I've written in a long while.
But still I'm not used to this, so sorry if you find any errors and gramaticaly uncorrect stuff here. ^^

That is incorrect. The xbox preview program is invite only (think - soon to be released console features) but the game preview program is open to all (think - soon to be released games). I am not a member of the xbox preview program (I'd rather not run the risk of bricking my box, even with quality control in place) but have downloaded and played game preview games already.

They really need to work on their naming.

This is how development teams fall apart.

Early Access straight to console is never a good idea. That means you have twice the amount of people arguing what should and shouldn't go in the game. Development is going to slow soon and maybe even halt for a bit.

  20. M_Sipher

    M_Sipher Oxygen Tank

Uh... no. That's not at all what's happening.

What's going to happen is you're going to have a way-smaller team whose sole dedication is to converting the work already done by the PC development team to coding compatible with the non-PC architecture. (And as noted, the gulf between PC & Microsoft's console is MUCH smaller than to the Sony stuff, thus the high overlap of games on both Steam and Xbox.) They will not be developing new content. They will simply be taking Starbound-the-PC-game and porting it to a non-PC (yet similar) platform.

It's like translating a book to another language. You only make changes necessary for the structure of the language it's being converted to. (Also in this case you the reader are also fluent in reading both languages and can enjoy either version fully.)

Really, the conspiracy theories and unfounded accusations are waist-deep at this point.
