I copied the code here, so it's easier for you to use how you see fit.

    #@35.6$)sdf(*H3Y(#...#$.432@#.a@.l/ZQ0..sa002.Q@)(21*#@)*2#(33.24.56.@)#094..0a...WNOTU)!02.934.22.a2039...

Please someone check this for me. And be careful: I may have mistaken the Zeros (0) with the letter "O".

The character creator feature works by giving a series of clothes, etc to place. All those are numbered. Maybe we should try to number them by some sequence like in the picture.

I'm currently trying to crack it. First started with the possible hint in the news letters image however my discrete math is meh. So far using the hint in the news letter...
Alpha: i ASCII value: 105: Binary Form: 1101001 Hex value:69 Octal Value: 151
Alpha: a ASCII value: 97: Binary Form: 1100001 Hex value:61 Octal Value: 141
Alpha: O ASCII value: 79: Binary Form: 1001111 Hex value:4f Octal Value: 117
Alpha: a ASCII value: 97: Binary Form: 1100001 Hex value:61 Octal Value: 141

I think you can eliminate a as a exists twice and with a set no duplicates are allowed which means there are 3 values there. Which could be a date...
Could be nothing could be something

"When we have a release date to announce we'll just tell everyone"

Get rid of letters that start with "W."

"Have a release date to announce, just tell everyone."

Tiy, some news, WE WILL NOT GIVE UP IN DECODING THE MESSAGE!!!! :D

Also, does this remind anyone of the book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline?

Okay, so, couple the fact that "It doesn't mean anything" in the literal, with the 'Hint hint. ;)' text, I'd have to assume the hint wasn't regarding its meaning, but its existance. This is an avian in an apex structure. Isn't the obvious conclusion here that there may be a language barrier of some sort in place? Unlocking languages or crafting translators or some such to be able to explore further into the galaxy would be fun, roleplaying wise. Expand your horizons!

  10. This is a really exciting insight. I'm bad at cracking codes, so I hope you're right!

The below character counts are based on the following text string:
Turns out this is the wrong text string..... apparently the correct string contains no zeros, only O's.... start again d'oh!

"In cryptanalysis, frequency analysis is the study of the frequency of letters or groups of letters in a ciphertext. The method is used as an aid to breaking classical ciphers.

Frequency analysis is based on the fact that, in any given stretch of written language, certain letters and combinations of letters occur with varying frequencies. Moreover, there is a characteristic distribution of letters that is roughly the same for almost all samples of that language. For instance, given a section of English language, E, T, A and O are the most common, while Z, Q and X are rare. Likewise, TH, ER, ON, and AN are the most common pairs of letters (termed bigrams or digraphs), and SS, EE, TT, and FF are the most common repeats"

I know, I know, I know... It's actually about the release date of Starbound. Look at the last piece of code:

    a2039

a = is the first letter of the word "anno", which means "Year" in latin.

    :giggle::rofl: :mwahaha: :notworthy:

not sure if this is relevant, but posting the whole thing into Google (with 0's instead of O's) yielded only one result. from pastebin. http://pastebin.com/0RLxuC9e been told this is obfuscation, meaning it's been encrypted multiple times. it could be a dead end or false lead., but it's all i was able to dig up at the moment.

So, my first appetempt is somewhat close. I think I may have seen this type of code before, I'm just trying to remember which one it was.

I know i've cracked codes similar to this before. It's probably a cipher code.
