I think so too, i dont like how weak Shotguns and Snipers are, i fond a guntrader and brought some Guns to test them in my starter world - i was suprised how weak they where. The Shotgun is worth nothing, when i think of a shotgun i think of heavy dmg/knockback at short distance (and they should be quite useless at long range too, for the shotgun feeling.

I think the missing part here is that there are no values for dmg/decay at long range. I think a projectile that has beeing fired deals 10dmg at 10blocks distance and also will deal 10dmg at 100blocks distance.
    I think thats wrong ^^
Projectiles need an attribute to be weaker/stronger messured by the projectiley travel distance.

a shotgun should deal high dmg at start but as soon as it hits more than 20 blocks away, it should be pratically no dmg
    also shotguns should be slower.

snipers should deal high dmg at long distance but have a *absolute minimum* of 3 or 5sec. firetime
also sniper oneshot are legit if enemys can deal the same amount of dmg with them

its funnier if you are able to use weapons tactically, and switch weapons to profit from the *diffrent weapons per situation* system

Which tiers are you using? I started buying guns at tier 3 and 4 from an avian gunship and they had roughly 20-40dps. Admittedly, this isn't a lot but it's a good way to start combat to soften a mob a little then switch to a melee weapon. I think this is good since it forces one to think tactically instead of just infinite ammo blast everywhere and everything, though some of the gun types could use a minor buff, like the pistol and shotgun. As for delays, I think there's a fair range of speeds on most of the weapons, I just don't like the energy usage rates. If we had to craft ammo and the weapons used minimal energy or only used energy when reloading a "clip", this would be cool since you still have a period of downtime that isn't so restrictive in longer combat (such as against bosses/mini-bosses). The only feasible way to fight with the ranged weapons so far against most bosses is to do a cheesy block barrier and shoot inbetween cracks that they can't get through. Some may call this "tactics", but to me, it feels more like something that could use some serious work.

And if i want to roleplay gunslinger? Running from mob and shooting is bad idea, you just end up attracting more mobs.

Why isn't the Offended Koala patchnotes up on the main site but in the forums instead o_O

The steel bow needs it's damaged upgraded. Either that or the addition of a tier 4 bow, because the steel bow is useless after beta or gamma. Try getting meat on a Sector X planet with a threat level of 10 using a bow.

  7. Compboy

    Compboy Poptop Tamer

I've asked the same question. got an reply. still not updated. as a paying beta player i begin to feel a bit dirty. (nicely said)

  8. Sidewinder

    Sidewinder Void-Bound Voyager

    @ Sir Orange
Try to weak the enemies and then do the final hit with a bow. That'll give you the outcome you want.

Hi! I completely understand that this game is still very early in its beta-release. I'd love to provide constructive feedback to help move this along to a stable full release. Is there a forum specifically for bug reports and in-game content suggestions someone could redirect me to? Love this game!

    Sir Orange Ketchup Robot

Yeah, but that isn't using only a bow. That's a strategy to get meat using a better weapon then using the bow to get the last hit.

Yup, check the "Suggestions" board at http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?forums/suggestions/ As for bug reports and such, check with the bug database first at http://community.playstarbound.com/...-beta-bugs-database.38347/page-2#post-1393270

I can't seem to craft the portable 3d printer. I have a robotic crafting table but the item isn't even displayed as an option!

  14. shakey2

    shakey2 Cosmic Narwhal

try recrafting the 1st starmap upgrade, use it, then check again.

It's always advised to actually start a new character whenever a new patch is released, though for this latest patch it's not actually necessary.

The team is really busy with developing the game my friend, nothing to worry about.
They know that the forums are really up to date, and people involved with beta browse the forums often enough to see the changelogs here aswell.
No need to feel dirty haha :)

actually, you can still get meat by just killing with a regular weapon. it doesn't happen often, but it does happen. you could also travel back to an earlier planet and farm meat with the hunting knife. you'll end up with plenty

Out of curiosity, I installed Offended Koala into a separate folder so I could keep my V5 stuff in order, is there a way to migrate my character into the V6 folder? I've tried copy/pasting the 'player' folder but to no avail. All I want to do is keep the stuff I have in the chests on my ship.

    Edit - Really? No one?

If you have tried copypasting the player folder, or the files inside but have no good results, then you'll probably have no luck. It would be the only way of doing anything like that, unfortunately.
Why would you want to have them seperately anyways my friend? Out of curiousity haha :)

Because when I tried to update the initial folder with my character in it, the version still reads v5. Seems like the only way to get V6 to appear was to do a fresh install. Have no idea if that's just a visual glitch.
