Starbound Building Demo

    Looks like the building system is very fluid and quick; more time to explore and have fun.
    Also I noticed the huge stack of items, is that default, or do you have to gather/craft them like in terraria?

    Cooperative building taken to a new level. You can see what each other player will be placing. Perhaps my absolute favorite part of building in this game.

    Just be careful of them Sharkmen.

    The devs can spawn their items in, so when they do, it automatically goes to the max stack.

    I will get Night to create an analysis video tomorrow, this is what it will contain. Let me know if anything is missing. :)

    -Players can see what items the other ones are placing.
    -When placing items, the colour of the line is blue when you can place, red when you cant.
    -Only shows off the apex furniture.
    -Obviously the opening door/wiring mechanics.
    -Analyse inventory if you like. There is a space on the players back for something, looks like a jet pack?
    -Talk about detail and the way even the furniture is animated. ie. TVs.
    -At one point the player holds a button and can move the mouse to see further.
    -Coloured lights.
    -Ape Flu is no Joke!!!

    One thing I really don't like is how EVERYTHING is on an angle, when there are things that really shouldn't be. Such as doors, which more look like back walls than doors. It would be best to have an option for the furniture to face the player as well, but since I'm not a spriter I have no idea how long it would take or how hard that is to do. Just my 2 cents.

    Doors look part of the background because they don't cast a shadow like foreground blocks do.
    Edit: or maybe you mean they are too "rectangular" and not a parallelepiped?

    I'm guessing that Tiy has been playing Borderlands recently!

    The wiring system looks neat.
    It's pretty much the same as what Edge of Space did isn't it?

    I'm just wondering... Doesn't that make removing traps from dungeons too easy?
    Just slap down a console and make or break connections.
    Then again you could probably just blow up the traps with explosives anyway so maybe "hacking" the systems with a console is actually balanced and fun. :)

    This interview brought up one thing that relates. All blocks can be placed in the foreground and the background. Left clicking places in the foreground and right in the background so now we know what the L and R means.

    That's actually old info to me, it's been mentioned somewhere before.
    Also in case you didn't know dualwielding works the same way.
    L is the weapon on Left Click while R is the weapon (or shield) on Right Click. :)

    Because of that up until know I thought we could use two different items at once, one on left the other on right. This shows that certain things are multifunctional and take up both.

    And with Rho, maybe Rho considers himself to be a woman? Wouldn't bring it up if I didn't already have a transgendered friend.

    Gotta say, that was nice to watch. Felt like not-building and just beating-the-crackalackin-crap-outta-things before watching - now I feel like building a giant tower of some sort.
    Or two.
    Or twenty.
    Maybe a hundred.

    It's based on the player's favorite color, and its contrasting color. Which is currently not completely done. The favorite color will control a lot of things, and one of the things it controls is the color of the beam gun and the color of the disabled beam gun.

    I saw one character placing glass background over the top of another background. I want to know what happens to the background that gets placed over?
