Lock and load everybody, because come beta time, it's gonna be one serious bug hunt

That's exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for, thank you. Only issue I may have is sending in screenshots - I haven't really got anywhere to post them and I don't really know enough about public image hosts to make a good decision between them. :(

I would recommend imgur. It's super fast and easy to upload anything, and you don't even need to make an account if you don't want. Literally just drag a picture onto your browser and it's done.

I shall investigate this! Thanks again.

I bet that despite the constant delays and testing, they'll somehow manage to cock it up and have at least one game-breaking bug on beta release.

It happens, and it's fixable. The dev equipment can't cover every possible hardware / software combo out there and if I recall correctly, there was one major gamebreaker that didn't turn up until Chucklefish ran the game on the hardware at i49.

  7. Actually, that's what you should do. It's how the most noticeable bugs, and the bugs that NEED to be found, get found. I can appreciate a fully-fledged test of every aspect of gameplay, but I don't know how pressing the need is to find out that if you triple jump off of this specific block into this specific liquid that one of the pixels in your hair will change hue for 3/4 of a second. Whereas, something that you might find would be more like: If you try to reload after killing three enemies without doing so, the game crashes. That sounds specific too, but it's something that a person would be much more likely to encounter and care about.

'Normal' is also gonna be a little different for different people, anyways. Getting a bunch of beta testers doing runthroughs of what's normal for them, you increase the number of weird cases that might only happen once in a blue moon.

I find it amusing to read patchnotes for games I play and stumble across bugs about situations I've never even seen before and never would've even known about if I hadn't seen the notes. That kind of thing usually means someone actually -did that- and caused an error to happen.

I'm not OCD enough to start planning such a thing, but I'd be a willing test subject as long as you don't go all GladOS on me ;)

Haha, yeah there will be no detention, hall passes or random floggings, it's just a little organizing.

I second IMGUR.com ... it's minimalistic and reliable, and doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles and added attractions to slow you down like Photobucket. Photobucket links are responsible for 2% of all internet data transfers, the site is over-run with usage.

How did you know exactly what I'll be saying every time I manage to break the game? Seriously though, me, and people like me (not too good with computers) will probably be able to give something along the lines of: "Well ah was runnin back an forth on da planet an I jumped outta mah spaceship while holdin [X] an den [Y]. What'd ah do an ken yoo fix it fer me?"

I will try to hunt some bugs and post them on the forums for sure :) I will be playing the first stage of the beta after all! It's going to be here mainly for bug testing and because the community is just impatient, that's also a big reason we are getting Starbound in this unfinished state I believe :D

I actually expect a lot more people to try and play the game despite what has been said about it's overall unfinished state.
    Expect lot's of complaints.
