Game doesn't check for null value when invoking tenant grumble, (say if someone has modded a tenant incorrectly, likely to be quite common with the new system) causing an infinite loop that freezes gameworld (but not the player), prevents exiting, and generates unreadable, multi gigabyte log files.

This one took a while to figure out.

    - Spirited Giraffe - Update 5 (as per steam - overlay is disabled, but didn't seem to impact it either way) on mac os yosemite 10.10.4/ MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch mid 2014
    - Client-side
    - 2, possibly 1. (in that it might be intended to solve a different, more intractable problem)
    - In fullscreen mode, resolution will reset to maximum or very high values during most, but not all, teleports. This causes unwanted lag, often apparently at random.

I set my resolution down to the level that things work (it's a very nice machine, but 1650x1080 is a fraction too high to manage without occasional lag bursts, particularly evident when snow is falling or the stars are spinning); however, this doesn't appear to stick; jumping in and out of fullscreen mode will reset it back up to 1650x1080, rather than down one notch; sometimes moving it -up- to a slightly larger size will also fix the lag (no, I don't understand that one either) until next time a teleport happens. Sometimes it resets it to maximum (2560x1440), or to some midway value that wasn't in the list to start with (I've seen 2048xsomething, but it's not there now); this is up from playing at 1440x900, which is halfway down the list. I've also seen it swap the resolution, but leave the options bar where it is; moving the options bar then resets the screen values to what the bar says, rather than what is (1440 -> 1650 is -very- noticeable); zoom values remain stable, but don't seem to affect the experienced lag. Going underground does, but movement remains choppy. I have been watching this particular bug for a few days now. >.>

Obviously, it remains a possibility that the lag is caused by something else, and changing the resolution resets whatever it was, though I'm not sure how one would prove this.

Ah, I should point out I'm playing on a linux 64 bit server; I have not (yet, although I may get a chance on the weekend) tested the error with local play. Neither did I find any mention of this particular feature in any of the bugreps I could see; if it's already known and/or fixed, I profusely apologise...

    1) Possibly not a bug, but a feature/working as should, or an interface bug

Using the "C" key seems to crashes the game seemingly randomly, but it almost always happens in the Outpost and after a little time spent on a planet, did not occur in my ship.

Let me see if I get this right:

    OSX Yosemite
    Unstable - Pleased Giraffe - update 0
    NPC bug
I think this falls under a rating of 2

NPCs will stay in a sleeping state away from their beds. They will be horizontally oriented, regenerating, but still capable of shooting things. This first happened in an Apex village, but continued happening, even in the first instanced dungeon. The beds around these affected NPCs are open to use, and resting in them does not affect them in their state. Attached is the first instance I ran into. • Server Version 'Beta v. Pleased Giraffe - Update 0' Revision: 5c299605a8385381a0b31b72187146ea124dfcf6 Protocol: 689
    • Server-Side
    • 2
    • invincible enemies
    • The enemies in quest "It's Party Time" are invincible (those after the gate opens). The health-bar of these enemies is "empty" and they take no damage when attacked. I found several other enemies having the same problem in those "teleports underground". I think this is a server-side bug because this does not appear in single player. The server is linux64 (debian). If you'd like to try yourself, contact me for my server ip.

    • Upbeat Giraffe/ Pleased Giraffe
    • NPCs
    • 2-3, I think. Not really game breaking, but persistent.
    • Any creature besides the player can't drown in the water.
    • I tried to flood the caves with water, creatures in them were completely indifferent to lack of oxygen. They released bubbles, but that's all. Much later I tried to escape from angry bird on ocean planet, jumped into the water... The bird continued my pursuit to the very bottom of the sea, and as soon as I hid from it in a underwater cave, it proceed to... just fly away as if there were only air and no water. After that, in Pleased Giraffe version, I tried to drown summoned tenants with flooding the base, but they were keeping minding their business, completely oblivious to lack of oxygen around.

That's probably meant to be that way, so that you won't be able to kill monsters so easily, by just flooding them in.

  12. Darth_Biomech

    Darth_Biomech Void-Bound Voyager

I doubt that it will easy killing. You need MASSIVE amounts of water to fill up just one medium-sized cave, and you encounter ~10 caves on your way down, minimum. It just isn't practical.

But in a single dungeon with hostile NPCs it's much easier and they are usually much tougher opponents, than generic monsters, so dispatching them so easily would be pretty lame.

I started up Starbound but then it got stuck in the loading screen. I forcibly crashed it and started Starbound again. But then my hardcore character was without any of her gear, like nothing in her 3 inventory slots. my two other casual characters were just fine. So no idea what happened. I also do not recall if I had any living hardcore characters so it also wouldn't surprise me if it was an accidentally resurrected character. I'm sorry that I have very little useful details on the matter. I don't have a means or desire to reproduce the effects :(

flashlight lighting goes through walls? it also happens to other lights

    "2"
if you turn on a switch that controls a door while being partially on the far side of the door then you will get pushed back and then can no longer reach the original switch. I encountered this glitch with one of the challenge rooms. I escaped via save&quit and then opened my game, took me to my ship. this room in particular had saws and water switches, after falling through a shoot of water with saws on both sides there is the next door witch would require you to have the double jump to continue because the water doesn't go high enough for you to actually reach the next door. so if you you accidentally lock yourself in the room via the push back problem then :nope:

    "1"
the hardcore portrait for dead characters no longer shows a skull, but mere a dot.

    "2"
One of the clouds spawned with a weird texture that resembled the veins of cabbage.

One of my weapons failed the conversion. it is op in damage while also being invisible. mwa ha ha it makes me the most powerful Floran Sith Lord. Its name is "Nerve-Rending Suppressor" with the following stats: LIghtning Coil, lightning damage, 396 base dps, 18.08 rate of fire, damage per shot 22, energy per shot 66, uncommon, 0 pixels, and the biggest glitch is that it has no sprite. The lightning shows but no gun, so I'm just waving hands around.

Whats wrong with that if that is how you like to play? Are we only allowed to play the game the way Chucklefish wants us to play?

Every game is played in the boundaries made by the devs and this restriction makes sense, as allowing it would make fighting monsters much easier, wiping off the challenge. Not to mention effort that would have to be put to create breath bars for monsters, resulting in extra CPU and RAM usage.

    IMO, not worth it.
