Closed Starbound BETA: Bugs Database LU 8.29.14 (Not for nightly)

I noticed that, sometimes, friendly aliens damage my character when walking "through" them while they are not enraged. Then the battle music starts and they start attacking me

 

I went into the Assets folder but found no "Player" folder. Halp.

 

Could you please post your specs there so we could compare them? I`m rather sure it has to do something with the videocard.

 

that is cause the Player Folder is in the Starbound folder, not within the Assets folder.

 

"Game doesn't launch on Mac. (can be fixed by deleting "player" folder in "assets")" Says on top of the forum, brah'

Mechanics

When placing an item, if the cursor is moved outside the acceptable item placing range and the player jumps, the line between the cursor and the character leaves a trail behind when the cursor crosses over a block where the item cannot be placed (such as placing a lamp inside a wall)

 

Items

The small computer from a human base seems to reverse its direction when placed. When you are placing it, it faces one direction (the way its supposed to face), but once placed it reverses its facing.

 

NPCs

Wandering peddlers (Merchants that are beside a fire or wagon in the wilderness) all sell human clothing items. Probably a known issue and the proper stocking procedures just haven't been implimented.

 

Has this been updated because there is barely any green in that list.

 

The Starbound Launcher stops responding when i start it up. And ever since the latest update i have lag that makes the game almost unplayable.

 

Found a bug with the horizon/background not displaying properly.

 

That horizon bug i saw to! but then the game crashed so i got no screenshot.

This one is a combo bug/exploit/glitch that works on servers and allows mass duping. I think things are working as intended..but with unintended side effects, and definitely needs to be looked at.

How to replicate.

Log onto a multiplayer server, have a friend log in.
Teleport to friends ship.
Have friend log out, while you are on ship.

Their part is over, they can do whatever they want..INCLUDING logging back in, this won't mess up the exploit.

So what happens? You are now on a copy of the ship, that won't be saved to memory..anything you do won't be changed in your friends version (if they've logged back in, they are now on a new fresh copy even).
So take what you like..change what you like..you won't affect their copy. The only issue is..unless someone else is online and you can teleport to their ship..you can't leave the ship you are on without logging out. If you try to beam down..you get the animation..you disappear..but you never leave the ship screen. But you can still choose to beam to someone else's ship.

So yeah...the way the server handles client ships needs to be looked at.

 

Linux Server issue: Socket creation leak

This is probably one of the most important server bug on linux, in short, the server create infinite sockets, and when it exceeds 1024 (default open files limit in linux), at best the server crashes and the open file count resets, nor at worse the server hang to death, and keeps all the files open and so on other services are unresponsive, you may not be able to connect the ssh

User supplied patch significantly reduce the leak by forcing the reuse of the socket

 

I don't know whether anyone has said this, but the bunny altar (found in avian tombs) take a LONG time to mine, about 60 seconds with a gold pickaxe

 

Game No Longer Staring

I have played hours of Starbound, and it has worked perfect. Today on Steam I backed up the files, and after that the game just no longer started. No messages or anything, it just pops up and quits automatically. I have the minimum requirements, and I play on a Mac.

Would anyone like to help me go through the main list that Alucard has compiled and verify whether the bugs still affect the current version for you or not?

 

i did that not too long ago there should be a list not a few pages back im not sure if everything in that list is current but i took it all from the dates after the last reset patch

if I build a wall between me and a chair. I can still sit in the chair, and then I'll be on the other side of the wall.

also, some things that get scanned in the scanner, don't appear to be printable.

such as spawners and seeds... not sure if that's been reported yet or not. but I felt like sharing.
