Starbound and It's Community

One thing I hope that will not happen to star bound is the transformation from Awesome Community to Terrible Children Community. I'm not saying that I don't want star bound to become popular, it's just that most 'popular games' nowadays have the most childish players coming in, like griefers, annoying players and such. Though these kind of people are in all types of multiplayer games, I'd just like none of those players coming onto the forums and ruining the best kind of civil forum this is. To the star bound forums moderators, try to keep the annoying spam-posting users away from these forums. So I hope the star bound community stays like this and not become the terrible community Call of Duty has became, though it still has it's nice side of the community.

 

I don't know why people can't seem to understand that the internet is a vast and, multicultural hole. You will have all sorts of people come, people who you will not like and people who you will like. Its inevitable. You will have children, adults and from time to time you may even encounter adults of the 3rd age.

This is the internet young man, and all of the stuff you don't want to happen will eventually happen. The only solution is to be mature, ignore the people you don't like and move on. If they are doing something against the rules, leave that to the moderators or the administrators, its their job to enforce rules and keep the community clean and safe.

 

This will probably get moved to Off-topic Chat, fyi. Agreed, though.

 

A few months after I joined this forums (back in 2012), someone mentioned Starbound and there was a spike in both new users and rude behavior. There was some talk then, and the best bet was for everyone to find out who they actually like on these forums, and make friends with them, stick to the people you want to keep around else they'll be swept away in the flood.

 

As far as the forums are concerned, it's already become unbearable to me. These forums used to be filled with excitement, fun, impatience (lots of impatience) But fun! Now? Yikes...

Why am I still here? Because I hate myself, clearly.

I can't help but feel most of the people causing my brain grief are the ones who learned of SB the day it was launched as early access. As itzvonV said, it's an inevitably but we had something special. Maybe in stage 2 and 3 harmony (or a close approximation of) will be restored.

 

Starbound has the benefit of being a single-player game as well. You don't want to see people, don't invite them. If you don't want to see those types of people in the forum, don't read their posts (or just don't come to the forum). It's a forum. All forums in existence attract the worst human beings just as much as they do the best of our kind.

 

I hope it does not turn to league community

 

Communities go bad because people disagree on things, especially when it comes to elitism, or just plain trolling. Actually, most "trolls" aren't trolls, but aggressive opponents of opinion. People just have this notion that their idea is ingenious, infallible, and thus anyone that disagrees with them even after their 43rd justification as to why their idea is indisputable must be a troll, because this person just isn't coming around to see it their way thus they must not be bothering to even try.

I for one welcome a community that can passionately disagree over one that remains quietly content.

 

Just as long as it doesn't end up like gamespot... Which it won't (because respect of others is one of the rules here).

 

It's up to each and every user to help build a healthy, pleasant community. Moderators can only do so much.

Everyone should think about that the next time they disagree with someone's point of view and want to post about it.

 

It's had rude people since the pre order stretch goal with people angry that vanity pets were added lol. Then i49 because yogs cast and people at i49 got to play the game and not them. Now people who act like the game is finished. It's the internet thier will always be people who get mad over dumb things sadly.

 

Maybe nasty people should be banned... from the internet! Dum... dum... duuuuuuuummmmmmmm!!! *Que masterplan cackle*

 

If you wanted a civil forum, well, that ship has sailed long ago :/

Honestly in my opinion that ship has already sailed. I grant my usual haunts are exceptional in the other direction, but this is one of the more hostile places I've seen on the net.

 

Really? This is one of the nicer places I've been. Then again, I've only been here two days and hung mostly around the RPG section. The big Doctor Who forum is nice too. Gallifrey One I think it's called.

 

well as I said my usual on-line haunts are notable for having very very tight rules on civil conduct, so I'm happy to say its me being sheltered but, yeah there's a degree of hostility and bluntly of stupidity I am not used to.

 

To be honest, that's how as see society in general, but then again, I have aspergers syndrom, so that explains a lot . (Why can't I have an awsome mutation?! )

 

Its only really general discussion with the "problem". Every other part of the forums is civil.
