A minecraft copy pasta made for the 360. Surprisingly since then there has been multiple people trying to cash in on the minecraft craze for the 360 indie games.
I'm not a terribly artistic person, but I think this idea would be very useful for people that are. I can just imagine beams of colored light refracting into a building during the day or even at night by moonlight, both of which would add a really nice touch to the game. I don't know how well it would work in the foreground, but as a background layer I could see some really nice applications.
A perfect addition for people with artistic tendencies. I would love to see what people would come up with. However, I can imagine some of the resulting windows would be very silly, such as a saintly-looking character with a big, yellow smiley for a head.
Well, it's a good idea, but only for those who can actually make something pretty with it. For the larger part of people it would be useless. So i think it would be much better if you could also buy premade stained glass windows or varying size that you can place between the background and the character(like you place the background wood), not necessarily make them yourself .
I personally think there should be the option of either making the pattern yourself, or buying a completted pattern. Getting a premade window would likely be more expensive. I would probably save up and buy the premade windows, since I have no artistic talents at all.
Good ideas in this thread. Stained glass background wall pieces (simple to implement, except if you want fancy lighting effects, but I'd love to see colored streams of light as I walk by ) Pre-made stained glass art to buy and place (would require an in-game art dealer ) Stained glass blocks for those who want them Just adding dye to your glass recipe. I think a semi-transparent foreground (a screen between you and your character on the screen) as stated above, would be awesome, but alas it is not likely to happen in starbound.
Just a side note! You can make colorful glass in Terraria using gems with your glass! Anyways, I am all for a stained glass option in game.
