Ssssso, um, about thosssse colony quessstsss. How exactly do they work? I jussst got one to make a houssse with an Iron Lantern, Iron Chair, and a wooden door (and a colony deed, of courssse), which I've jussst done, but it isssn't counting it asss complete. :<
What I should do: Work for Uni. What I want to do: Watch #CriticalRole. What I am going to do: Play Starbound. Shit.
weirdly only unstable updates right now ;D but maybe the update did arive yesterday allready...or it will come a bit later to germany anyway...thanks for the hard work you did put into this update!
a great update! too bad that it rerolled the monster on my little village, now they're under constant attack by angry sharkdogs and ghost monsters that fly through the walls. but other than the mudering! the "make a house" quests don't seem to work right either. but hey, by the time i have it done they've been killed and the mission is revoked anyways so it all worked out. ....maybe make the special non-proc-gen monsters a little more rare?
the fist weapons would be amazing if not for touch damage, the spears are overpowered because you can literally juggle enemies until they die and they can't do anything about it, and most of the ranged specials have way too slow recharge times. otherwise the combat stuff is pretty great. definitely needs optimization.
I've been holding out for a long time, and I'm very pleased with the current game. One question though, Are all the mobs supposed to be aggressive? Every monster that I've encountered attacks me, it's pretty annoying.
Awesome. This isn't the full finished combat update stuff, is it? To rephrase, you wont be moving to the next stage of implementing the rest of the game? Can't play Starbound until it is no longer required to reset the world to make sure everything is in place when another 'stable branch' is released. It is just a waste of my entertainment time doing much else but kill stuff, which I have more fun doing in another game. Note to anyone who is going to make some rude remark: Yes. I bought Starbound for the other features it offers, not the combat aspect which exists in so many other complete games already. 3 main features I'm out for: exploration of diverse planets each with varied themes (minerals/flora/fauna/natural biomes/settlements/ruins/etc.), colonisation, lore / stories to collect and create. Combat is the optional icing on the cake.
At first I was a little confused, but then I read your little note. Unfortunately, the way world generation works means you have to at least visit a new planet to see the new shit, and that can't be changed as far as I understand.
True. You visit new locations for things to get generated. If however there is a change that balances something out in some way, or fixes an aspect that caused problems, the only way to ensure these chnages take place if those areas are reset. Just an example, once the story aspect gets included, no doubt there will be things they will add to the first planet. Without a reset, you can't access this content. Seeing as I have rediculous plans (digging up an entire small planet of all its stuff and building it up as one huge residential mass with various levels of wealth) I don't want to have to redo everything all the time. It's like playing minecraft, building some epic thing in survival mode, only to have to redo the lot because an update came out and it adds/changes aspects. That said, I really hope there will be someone clever in making something that allows for saving the planet and porting it to other games. A kind of sharing method or even method for backing it up and reinstalling it into the game world.
