I think PvP would really benefit with a dash key. Gives a way for melee to close in fast while not making room for ridiculous sprint chases.
WHY MEGA FONTS I think the normal size is just alright. Anyways, let's take example of the game this game is to most ressembling to, let's face it: Terraria In Terraria, the way you sprint is by getting a certain Item. Should be the same here. The huge difference is that in starbound, not only can you walk, you can RUN. Now call me uncultivated but I think the RUN thing is going to be implimented since there are SPRITES for the run animation. You wanna go even faster? I think this means extra item for you to find my dear...
The thing is, I think this superbe picture illustrates well the weirdness of this topic. Vynil, did you EVER go to character customisation? Because THERE IS a running thing... Still, it would be funny just in space for no reason to get stopped by omochao "you got, the lightspeed shoes" (kicks him in the face with said shoes)
I think movement upgrades per armor upgrade. Like you can modify you leggings to be faster for some cyborg type reason. and you can have moon boots! MOON BOOTS!
I guesd sprinting could work, but different speed and runlengths based armor. for normal runonthemill armor logically heavy armors reduce and hinder your movements but a melee user doesn't need delicate cuts, and they need all the defence they can get. While ranged units need their delicate aim to work at max perpose, and heavy armors will hinder their arms nd moving to a betfer position difficult. NOW FOR POWERED ARMORS. Melee usets could augment their legs for betger speed and endurance, torso armor with better armor/shileds/ect. While ranged units could get high performance but easy to break jetpacks and wings, jump boots, aiming modules, ect. sure, ranged units might(and can, if you ask me. It could be a viable tactic when enemies have a good gun/skill to aim but not strong enough for heavy armors) become a ranged tank, but I'd rather evade and dodge all those missles AND that guty dashing at me with a flashy chainsaw that seems to glow. you sed what I mean? I could go all day with this, but I'll cut it short. dashing? yes. BUT. Armor and weapon weigtht should balance it. hope this helped
Hm, voting. Steal love you? Alright, I'll vote to steal all your love so when you'll be dying, alone and unwanted you'll learn to spellcheck your threads/posts before posting them. Pardon, my sense of humour is somewhat grim today. Though you deserve no love from me for doubleposting and oversized font when neither is required. I actually wouldn't mind ability to sprint but given there is already set of character animations for both walking and running I'd just consider running being that 'special' movement mode increasing hunger while walking would be left as default. That way, notion of getting vehicles to travel over longer distances would also gain some worth.
Okay I'v been over I'm not the best speller out there... now you don't have to make me sad... Jest kidding
I think a system like Terraria's would be better. Your weight/equipment determines your max speed, which will still require acceleration, instead of running at the speed instantly. No sprinting.
