Spreading the word

So I'm curious, what part have you done to increase the fame and fanbase of Starbound, that it so richly deserves?
Personally, I've been telling my friends about it, and on another forum, Taleworlds, I made a thread explaining the game and such, and I've gotten several people hooked on buying it.
I just started this thread so that people ,just maybe, keep it in mind that if anyone asks you to recommend a game, recommend Starbound to them! The more people who buy this, the merrier! As then Chuckefish'll have more funding so that they can expand upon this!

 

Personally I'm going to hold off on recommending it to people until I've actually played it, especially given that we're still months away from release and have very little knowledge and, afaik, no actual gameplay footage.

 

I told my friends about it (who are also fans of Terraria) and created a thread in a forum I like.

 

Was about to say that. We don't really know all that much yet, and recommending it on the basis of "it will probably be good and the art style is cool and it might resemble Terraria in some aspects"... yeah.

I've told my brother about it, though. And I owe the guy who gifted me Terraria.

So that's like 3 copies I'll be buying, at least. I hope there's gonna be a 4-pack on Steam.

 

Maybe I should've noted that by ''Recommended'' I meant more ''Recommend to keep an eye on'' than outright ''Buy it!''

 

Wrote an article for it on Examiner.com then proceeded to tell all my friends about it.

 

At the moment, I've told all my friends that have or still do play Terraria. My friends run a Minecraft server, and once SB comes out I'll definitely be dragging them along for the fun!

 

I haven't done much to spread the word of Starbound. Not many of my friends play PC games and pretty much none care about indie games.

 

I've told all my friends that played Terraria, but I don't plan to do any more, it'll be popular enough with the TO fanbase, and I'd like to be able to say "I played Starbound before it was cool/popular!"

 

I'd tell my real life friends, but they're die-hard COD fans. Only PC game they play is Minecraft, and I doubt they'll take an interest in this game. (Although I'll probably nudge them towards it post release)

I have no one else to tell. ;-;

 

I will be covering all the major information releases on my blog.
Aside from that, trying to get some of my friends to pick it up.

 

I've mentioned it here & there but no one seems interested. If there is interest it seems like they're waiting until more information is released.

 

Have told my friends who play Terraria with me. I did talk about it on my Facebook wall once. Once we closer to release and I get a real good idea on how the game is really going to be I will be telling everyone I know to get it.

 

well, it will be the same old story again. i recommend the game to my friends, they say the game is crap, i convince them to try it out, they end up playing serveral hundred hours...

 

Same happened with my friends. They didn't think they would like it and the other day I got my one friend to finally try it out and he was like "Holy shit this is like crack!" As he continued to make a wooden fortress and dig out a huge underground dungeon for it. haha

 

Told all my friends, who had the same reaction I did. *Mouth wide open*.

 

Well, there's already quite a buzz generated from Redigit on the game so there's that. Not only that but there's a reddit.com/r/starbound now which /r/terraria has been directing people to. It's already quite popular ♥

 

After it's been out for a while I may mod or make textures for it, and then spread the word through YT and friends. I've already showed one friend and he's anticipating it, just not nearly as much as me c:

 

I've been talking about it to people non-stop. Liked it on FB, Follow it on Twitter, pretty much anything I can do to promote it

 

Every time I meet someone that looks like they'd enjoy the game, I recommend coming to these forums for the nice community and promising-looking game.
