I was about to make a thread about Drainage blocks but this is kind of like it except for the spong quality. Drainage blocks would just be able to have any type of liquid pass through it EXCEPT the player, so its not like a platform or anything. I came up with the idea when I imagined a long hallway with a tank of green liquid over head and below, if one were to say, set off a trap while passing through the hallway the liquid would pour from above do its business on in the hallway, then pass through the drain blocks to the bottom, if pipes are implemented, you have yourself one hell of a trap! Nice suggestion, I hope something like this is considered.
It would be neat if the sponge/absorbent block expanded as it absorbed liquid. and when a player steps on it, the pressure applied makes the sponge shring as it looses water/liquid. could make for some interesting platforming. (I think that it might be a bit hard to code though)
Seems nice, but using sponges to remove water looks... idk, old-fashioned, as it's a future-like game. Though I don't have any other idea for removing water so, I approve
Sponge blocks are unnecessary. The way the game is currently set up, if you knock out the background wall in a water container, the water drains off into the background. Poof! As for drains that let a liquid pass but not the player, you could just use a single block gap (or a series of single block gaps). Liquids can drain through them but a player would not pass through.
I actually agree with Havoc, though another choice for removing water won't hurt . Instead of breaking the background(There could even be unbreakable backgrounds), you simply use a tool.
You do have a point and I have thought of this before already, but don't you think that's just getting by? like an excuse or something, it would be really weird and obvious if the pathway you're walking through has visibly missing blocks all throughout the hallway, and visually it just looks messy :/
