Spoiler: Trailer Code Solved!

Warning: This contains information about Stardew Valley's story. If you don't want to be spoiled, please, don't open this.

Before I say anything, I'm sorry if this has been done before. I did a handful of searches and nothing showed anything to suggest so. So, without further ado...

I was amazed that I hadn't seen anyone post anything about the glyphic scroll shown in the trailer. Taken by curiosity, I decided to decode it. For clarification, this is the scroll of which I speak:

It's visible from 2:46 to 2:48. The player finds it on the floor of the Crafts Room in the Pelican Town Community Center. It may look like a jumble of unintelligible hieroglyphics at first, but each symbol corresponds to an English letter. (actually, that was probably pretty obvious) With the help of quipqiup.com, a cryptogram-solving helper, I was able to decipher their meanings, as seen below:

There are 22 different symbols in this message, of which I've been able to translate 21. The 22nd character, shown in the rightmost column, is only found once in the message, and the word it's used in seems to be a proper noun. Here's what the mostly-translated message looks like next to the original:

CRAFTS ROOM
WE THE ?UNIMO ARE HAPPY TO AID YOU.
IN RETURN WE ASK FOR GIFTS OF
THE VALLEY. IF YOU ARE ONE WITH
FOREST MAGIC THEN YOU WILL SEE
THE TRUE NATURE OF THIS SCROLL. ​

The word containing the unknown character could be either Bunimo, Junimo, Qunimo, Xunimo, or Zunimo. Personally, I think that Junimo and Zunimo are the two most likely.

So, there you have it. What do you think of all this? What does it mean? What is the -unimo's first letter? Reply with your thoughts!
Or, y'know, don't. I wouldn't want anyone getting spoiled. I'm sorry.

 

I mean............. you could have potentially just revealed parts of the game that we were meant to progress on our own. it's cool that you took time to solve it but you could have also robbed people of figuring out parts of the game on their own

I'm very sorry. I didn't realize how badly this would spoil things when I posted it. I would add a spoiler warning to the title, but the forums don't seem to allow me to do that. If a mod or someone could please do that, it'd be a lot off my mind. I'm so, so sorry for revealing this.

If anyone remembered Siri's stream, this part did get translated so there wasn't really a need for a forum post about it.
At least for those who watched the stream.
But for those who are complaining about spoilers on a spoiler titled forum.... Really..

Yeah probably, might have been late to the party.
But at least anyone who was at Siri's stream, which almost everyone on these forums I know, has seen this already.

 

But not those who don't want to be spoiled, I would assume. And myself, because I'm a filthy softcore fan.

It's not OP's fault. It's CA's fault for putting that in his trailer.

I'm not sure why CA didn't expect someone to try to crack the code, many other companies hide things like this and expect fans to find them.

Now, if you take the message, it doesn't appear to spoil much aside from the existence of magic and magical beings. Which are commonly in Harvest Moon games that this game is inspired by.

 

It's not CA's foult at all. We have seen that in 3 streams now, two of them from chucklefish (the publishers) and in sirithe's stream. By putting that in the trailer people understand that the game has a deeper story, not just farming etc. It's nothing wrong with including that at all, if people don't want spoilers from it, people don't transelate it. I'm not saying what OP did was wrong, nor am I trying to make him feel bad - bud it is in factt OP''s job to let people know it's a spoiler. You can't really blame that on CA tbh.

Well, at the very least, it's documented on the forums now. Again, I never claimed to be the first one to find this out, but none of my prior searches suggested otherwise.

That's... ehm... really something. If it's an anagram, it's a bloody good one.

Maybe he did expect people to crack. I mean what's wrong with it? You said yourself that it doesn't really spoil anything that we really didn't already know.

People are a little overzealous with trying to avoid spoilers now a days. Is it a spoiler that summer comes after spring?
