I would like to introduce to you all, Spike. The way this monster works is that it will be attached to the top of a "cat tail"-like plant and blend into the background. Once the player gets within a few squares of the plant, the little bugger will jump off and begin charging the character. It is sort of a porcupine mixed with a koala.

The trick is that these creatures are nocturnal so the reason they attack you when you run by is because you're waking them from their slumber. If the character simply walks by instead of running by these creatures then they will not attack. It forces the character to pay attention to their surroundings and slowing down a bit to enjoy the scenery. Of course they could still run and just kill everything in site.

They could potentially be found in any environment (minus cold), though I like to think of them as an addition to either a swamp, desert, field, or jungle biome. They tend to be clustered in groups of three or so, and are very angry and adamant about getting you out of their territory if they are awoken.

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to look them over. I hope you enjoyed. I'll try to make a more detailed picture of these creatures later one, but this is still the base outline for it.

That is a seriously good concept you have there. Though for it to work there would have to be a perfectly harmless plant which naturally looks like it (could be harvestable, to bait people in). Think of it like Terraria's mimic.

I agree, and that's actually something i forgot to mention in the description. Thank you for bringing it up. And thank you for appreciating the idea!
