Hello, everyone. Something awesome that some games have been implementing (such as Mass Effect and Skyward Sword) is the option to, while talking to NPCs, choose different types of lines to say to them, this having a different effect on them. In Skyward Sword there was the option to create a love relationship with a girl, if you talked to her in the right way, so I was imagining that that would suit Starbound pretty well - since it is a Sandbox with a story, it should have make-your-own-story elements in it as well! Which would make it possible to create a family with some NPCs, eh? That would be crazy. Also, speech should interfere in the characters animations while they're talking to us. Like, if we say the planet is about to blow up, they should put their hands over their heads, maybe start shaking in their little boots, and such There could probably be a set list of speech categories. For instance, an NPC says something to you and 5 different boxes appear with these categories: Serious Playful Flirty Rude Off-topic How do you guys figure this would be? ~ockpii
If you want to play a dating sim, you go play the Mass Effect/Dragon Age franchise. I prefer games like Starbound without useless gimmick elements like "making a family".
That seemed a bit of a rude response to me, I hope you didn't intend to be. on topic: I'm sorry but I don't like this idea. it's too 'emotionally invested' in the game. starbound would fit more in the 'mindless fun' genre. running around and exploring the galaxy just for the hell of it. I hope I don't discourage you from future suggestions.
Quite uncalled for, sir, thank you very much One thing you have to keep in mind is that the love-story thing was just an example What I'm suggesting, basically, is that we interact with the NPCs and that our actions/words have some effect on their actions and reactions as well. And I've been on the internet for some six years, I've had much worse, but thanks for your consideration I do have a few more suggestion threads up, if you'd be any interested ~ockpii
hm, this should be implemented with caution, or it may "polute"the game with social aspects... maybe these effects only happen when you speak to npcs at your base, but don't affect the game outside it at all who knows?
I'm a bit over the wall on this idea.. I'm not sure if Starbound is the right game to have a multiple speech NPC interaction. But I agree it would be awesome if you could have further interaction with CERTAIN character (like tribe leaders, city mayors, optional NPCs and even some bosses). Make an alliance with the local civillization or declare war against a whole planet, offer tributes in items for bosses/dungeon guardians instead of fighting, make friend and foes depending on how you interact with them. Creating a family, however, I see no point in implementing such thing.
The only reactions I expect is if you had just defeated a dragon. People should be aware of that and react to it. Including cheesy and funny lines would be a plus
