Closed Spawner + fish Reproduction

NPC spawners are not anything new, but I've noticed something rather weird with them.
Every time I load up the game, it is almost as if the spawned npcs are duplicating.... A lot.

This is one of the small holding cells of a prison I plan on using. As you can see the yellow Avian and the apex are both NOT duplicated.
But the pink avian and red haired human both have decided to mass reproduce themselves....

 

I think it might be a loading issue. When the game loads the world chunk where npcs are, it might stutter, causing npcs to duplicate.
I think it is an enjoyable bug.

 

No so enjoyable when performance is directly inverse of the volume of sprites in a given area.

 

Those red-haired guys seem pretty thrilled about having their own clones.

 

Those NPCs are way too happy for prisoners in a dungeon.

 

My Hylotl prisoners wouldn't dare to clone themselves. If they did, I would burn them for witchcraft.

 

Fair enough point. Haha. It was rather amusing to stumble upon when I was making renovations to my prison.

 

I ran into a similar bug with some fish on my home planet. The lag kept getting worse and worse when I'd visit to drop off things i had collected and thought maybe there was a weird bug with having too many items in chests. But then I remembered a pool of water I had found when first exploring that had what seemed like an unusually large number of fish in it and decided to revisit it and see if maybe they had been "reproducing" out of control... Picked up nearly 1500 fillets after I had killed them all.

 

That is a lot of fish. Goodness gracious. I laughed at this photo none the less. I am glad you found the lag issue none the less!

 

I'd insert a clip from the awful American Godzilla movie, but I think it would melt my keyboard to even search it.
