The comment section is no place to talk about our issues. And I don't talk about how the pirate ships are, because they are randomly made. They don't have proper names if they have more weapons or if they are more quick. I could still make up some classes for the NPC pirates. ps: I did not call it entirely mine... I sent a link to your thread! My idea is based on NPCs, yours is on the pirate ships! And this is the last of it in the comment section... I will report if it continues.
You mean, you can't get over the fact that, exept for talking about the crew, I took your idea? Let's put it this way: I told you about spaceship fights, we talked about it and you posted it before me.... ok! great for you! but I didn't steal your idea at all, since it's NOT YOUR IDEA! Just get over it man. Your thread is different than mine. You say I put my name on your work. I didn't. From the beggining, their is a link to your thread and the only point in common is the actual pirate fight. But the mechanics are very differents in my thread. It's not a competion. I am not making this to make you suffer. I just want to share my idea and it is different enough to make another thread.
NO WAIT YOU WILL CREATE A QUINTUPLE POST NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Space griefing would be awesome. Especially if there's NPC ships that you can board and loot. If there's not NPC ships, then I think the game'd feel horribly static.
Piracy would simply imply to kill others and steal their money. If we talk Singleplayer, you do receive money when you kill something... so that settles it, because I don't like griefing in multiplayer.
Well, you don't have to kill them, you could just come in, disable all ship functions, plunder everything they have, leave, and just y'know, let them drift away. That works too. Or you could just focus on NPC ships, which would probably be loaded with valuables, well-armed guards, turret sentries and whatnot, all of whom you could probably loot their frozen corpses as soon as you throw a grenade in their life support, fly away, and come back in a few months.
Or Do How I Do In FTL And Keep EMP'ing Oxygen And Medbay And WATCH AS THEY ALL SLOWLY CHOKE TO DEATH AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHHAAHAHHA
Haven't you read the EDIT? You can make more money by putting the pirate captain in prison. But it's harder You are one cruel person .... I like it
Perhaps you could hire your own hackers, crows and boarding party and become your own pirate? That would be fun even if it's difficult or impossible to invade other players' ships. Would also be interesting if you could become a bounty hunter and go to dangerous systems and raid pirate bases or pretend to be a vulnerable, docile ship, let yourself get boarded and kill/imprision everyone for money. Depending on the notoriety of the pirates, it might be quite a lot of coin. Hell, it'd be awesome to have two sides, the good guys, which is the vast majority (Like 90-95% of the sapient NPCs) and the pirates. You could pick being a pirate, but there should be lots of reasons not to become one, like the fact that it can turn 90-95% of the sapient NPCs either hostile or very scared of you.) Let there be drawbacks, lots of drawbacks, to prevent players from becoming pirates, but you're allowed to on a trash character if you're so inclined. Perhaps going all-out piracy results in you changing your environment, leading raids on "good guy" stations and eventually changing the balance of power.
Well, that's a whole side quest you got there... I'll think about it. Boy, if you continue like this, I'll put your name on the banner
I wonder ship systems take damage? Like being shot in the engines lowers evasion, and being shot in a window slowly asphyxiates you. all subsystem damages can be repaired by the engineer obviously. Just saying, you mknow what I mean.
Of course! That's mostly what I mean by your ship's ''weakness''. I should probably make it clear in the thread.
From This thread I want to see an Artisan class, completely optional, but he/she/it'll randomly craft statues from your leftover selected item, such as cobblestone. You can't order he/she/it to craft certain images, and the artisan will select a random image from all of the game's art assets and use them, so statues of giggling Florians, trees, the Starbound logo, elephants striking menacing poses, tentacles, cheese, tables, (or possibly UI elements, just a random statue of a text box.) are completely possible. The artisan will also craft you statues of bosses that you've downed, as a trophy of sorts that you can place in your home. This way they don't have to drop and make the player think "Why the hell was this wolf carrying around a giant statue of a tentacle monster from another planet?" Introduce some levity "Goes to Artisan, sees he/she/it's crafted a statue of a table, you can't actually use it as a table, it's just a statue of one. . ." And get rid of that enormous amount of cobblestone that your mining lasers are putting out. Perhaps the Artisan wants to keep hold of his/her/its statues, and you can access them from a UI when you talk to him/her/it. This way the artisan doesn't make a giant mess of your inventory. And produce memorandum of some of your favorite/least favorite bosses. Perhaps you could sell the statues at a tidy profit to art connoisseurs in cities.
