You would normally start out with a crappy boring spaceship where if you look at it, it makes you sad. so why not find some paint and parts to pimp it up? make it any color you want and boosters and maybe a neon sign... maybe you could even paint and customize your space station? comment your thoughts of this idea.
Spaceship customization is a big part of the game - I'm guessing that will include things like paint jobs.
