Space station

I'm sorry if someone already said this but I was wondering. Will there ever be space stations implemented in the game. I only say this because I don't want just a tiny ship. I know you can go on the ground but I just want a big place to live in space. Thanks

 

This will probably come after release since Tiy said he already played around with this suggestion.

Essentially, this one is a "We have to wait and see." I'm unsure if they're planned or not but a lot of people want them, so here's hoping.

 

Personally ship upgrades would be better I think, space stations are more static after all. I would like to see npc space stations however, I think that could add a lot, friendly ones for more trading and such, hostile ones to invade etc etc. Generally the idea was moving away from space stations to make it seem like you have more freedom to explore. I think space stations for players could add something, maybe in multiplayer the space station is more the visit friends rather than their ships or something. It is hard to say how it will change and have impacts at this stage but could be interesting to have space stations even if not for players.

 

I'm pretty sure Ship upgrades are -definite- in the future.

 

I am just going on current information in the beta that is there, I never said it wasn't going to happen just said it is generally better than space stations in how it feels and adds to the experience. I think both could be good but preference to upgrading my ship than having a space station. Maybe space stations could have some nice functions however (but being very expensive to balance it). I mean if a space station collected large amounts of solar power and converted it into a fuel that meant at late game you don't have to worry about fuel that would be a nice thing to see, or maybe you can invite merchants of set kinds so you have easier access to them. It is a lot of possibilities and could be very interesting to see how things go.

 

I believe there is a "wiki" page on this for the "starbound wiki" (im assuming its fanmade) I think it talks about the development of it and how they plan on implementing it.

 

I do like the idea of having both, say the space station could be on an orbit of your home (and to move it would cost some resources?)

 

There's the files for a space station in the files, but according to Rho they created those sprite like 2 years ago before they really knew where the game was gonna go. Personally I would love to have space stations.

 

I'd like Space Stations. Especially if they sell fuel.

 

Starbounder.org is the "official" wiki, though it was fanmade. Chucklefish has decided that it's going to be the official one, but it still requires people to make their own entries.
