I'm not sure how many suggestions like this have been done now... Nor would I know where something like this would go since I had a gander at the "how to" for the suggestion's thread, since it has a plethora of suggestions.

What really sold me about Starbound is the Space station, shortly after searching for it, I discovered it was removed back then, though it might be placed back in.

So I preoccupied myself with all the mechanics, elements and features of Starbound and I was sold on how just as good they are.

The suggestions for if the Space stations do return, instead they can come in a variety of different Space stations.

    Few examples:
    • Colony Space station - Complex station meant to house a small colony above the planets orbit.
    • Research S.T. - Developing new things for their respective factions/race/etc. Make a unique dungeon for raiding.
    • Abandoned Space station - Bandit inhabited, may have lost tech in there, may or may not have been developed by an unknown race that keeps a little of their greatest secrets in there.
    • Etc.

One thing I gave some thought about, is the Abandoned Space station that used to exist back then. A lot of its features were incorporated in the players ship, probably because a player might try to put everything he/she ever needs in that station and never leave. There could also be a good plethora of reasons that stem out as well as to why.

I am all happy with anything the developers go with, but a few I'd like to suggest is Space stations being commandeered by players open up new branch of things to discover and develop, once everything has been done by normal means without a space station.

For one suggestion is to begin with Robotics. Players can Research, develop and produce Mechnical robot's and other mechanical beings for a plethora of tasks, from Militaristic purposes to Manual labor. Usually we want to avoid from planets being just another source of resources, so there would have to be limitations or nerfs to Robots that...say, could be used to mine for materials, will dig down and search for one or just two resource types, have limited space, take longer then you would by hand and are subject to being attack by local wildlife and other hostile threats, being one example.

Robotics can stem along these Models:

    • Repair bot - Will restore blocks that are under the effect of being broken, such a robot would be useful on a ship, space station or a small/medium/ large colony village on planets.
    • Guard Bot - Same like town guards only they can be altered on who/who can't be allowed pass them, what to open fire on, patrol, follow, Guard one spot, etc.
    • Combat bots - Robots outfitted with different sets of weaponry for different combat situations.
    • Task Bot - They can do a plethora of tasks when given the order, when, where and what to do. Greeting, Surveying, Mining, Gathering, Lumbering, crafting if there is an appropriate container to draw materials from, hauling crates of material from a short distance, etc.

I do hope this, and the following won't be overtly complex, or something Close-to can be done.

Terraforming is another thing that came across me, from the old days of Spore, what if the Station itself can alter the terrain, properties and life down on the planet it looms over? Or tools can developed, with a limit use, can help make significant changes to a planet, on foot.

Changing the colors of everything, the appearances, water properties, even Local wildlife appearance and behavior. Make one a boss, or make one docile and completely harmless. Etc.

    Lastly, Vehicle Research and Development.

I'm hoping overtime that instead of just a Mech, Hover bike and Trucks, they can branch off into different models as well.

Whether this would be developed on the Space station, since some space stations in Sci-fi's were often mass production Military/ Normal Mass production factories in space, or as a special crafting interface to develop them, I'm hoping each type will recieve different models to make them even more entertaining.

The following is suggestions on Mech types:

    • Merchant Mech, for carrying merchandise around and becoming a makeshift Bazaar stand when inactive,
    • Standard War mech for combat, comes in different Sub-models for different combat situations.
    • Mining Mech outfitted with Small Cargo pack, Shovel Arm and Mining Laser arm for even quicker mining.
    • Cargo Mech for delivering a Massive amount of stuff across multiple terrains, whether it be items or a vehicle.
    Hover Bikes:

    • Standard Hover bike - Basic and obvious, for quick travel across the planet surface. Jump boost and thrust capabilities.
    • Chariot Hoverbike - Basically a combat Hoverbike outfitted with two rapid fire guns and average speed. Most useful for picking off loners and for Hit & run strategies.
    • Delivery Hoverbike - Reasonably fast but slower then the Standard, Chariot, and other model Hoverbikes. Has a small inventory space for placing items in.

    And lastly, Vehicles:

    • Jeep - Standard camouflage-print vehicle capable for carrying 3 passengers, and one driver to operate it. Useful for getting a small handful of troops here and there.
    • Truck - Standard transport vehicle, great for moving vast quantities of items, a single smaller vehicle or Mech around. No defensive capabilities, nor offensive.
    • Panzer - Small Vehicle outfitted with a cannon on the roof for small time assaults.
    • Cheetah - Vehicle mounted with a front-end machinegun, one operator to drive, another man the gun. Can only aim forward in a cone, high rapid fire, high spread.
    • Mobile base - A truck outfitted for a small mobile home. For the player on the go, living the nomad life. Tough exterior but still no offensive or defensive capabilities.
    • Psycho - Vehicles mostly tuned for Melee attackers to hang off of the Vehicle and get swings in, Only useful for hit-and-run tactics. High risk for High reward Vehicle, hence to its name in its reckless tactical requirement.
    • Deus ex - Slowest moving Vehicle, Sporting a Siege Ion Cannon for mass destruction and dual Heavy machine guns on the front and behind the vehicle. Tread allows it to climb up and down rough terrain, except sharp inclines, or any surface its weight causes it to sink and render it useless.

But those are suggestions, and can be examples for something even better or just as good and still better.

Otherwise I hope to see further development however the team wants it.

Thank you for your patience, I'm sorry if something like this has already been suggested a thousand times, I thought some suggestions I gave here could be any different then what has already been said.

Abandoned places, like Abandoned Space stations always fascinated me, particularly like Long abandoned ruins or temples, where they could hold lost technology, weaponry or interesting powers used by ancient tribes and colonies long ago... Waiting for someone to find them.

P.S. (Allow us to regrow tree's? It makes it tedious heading to another planet to gather wood. Unless its intentional or it takes a long time for them to grow back.)
