You know, people flying around mindlessly and crap, shooting lazers at people for no reason. Yea, something that's really awesome I guess.
Why not make space travel like kingdom hearts where you can freely go anywhere but only able to enter planets after you unlock routes to them? Once a 'travel' is initiated you play a stage where you go from Point A to Point B, on a 'on rail' sort of linear motion and shoot enemies. I remember back when I was a kid there was a game that was like R-Type for Sega Genesis, only the difference is that the game was named something I can't remember. The unique feature in it is that you can change the speed of the ship with a button to accelerate and decelerate. Like R-Type you can get bits for the ship to attack, but unlike R-Type you can actually launch and rotate and use different maneuvers with the bits.
No i'm talking about the version patches. They've had like 8 updates. mostly bug fixes but also a goodly chunk of Balancing reworks that they changed many of the spawns, creatures and Loot chests.
That's not really comparable to adding space combat. They might have changed things like spawns and chests in the patches, but they didn't add anything new till it came out in DLC. Like the vehicles. Maybe it's a scale thing. If they add space combat, I want them to really add a lot with it. Lots of ships, lots of weapons and powers, lots of everything. I just can't see a simple patch fitting everything you need for good space combat.
Well, I think this argument is sort of pointless as they said that they do not want to add microtransactions. So, they could just add plenty of game changing patches and there is nothing wrong with that. Now back to the topic of space battles themselves. I do not want to have to go through a space battle mini-game just to get to another planet. I want battling randomly between planets(not just systematically), battles with other players, and exploring deep space for resources. It would be like a different planet type.
So it would either overheat and go critical mass or just flood the whole station with deadly radiation, smart.
