This is NOT a reference to Twilight Book nor Movie. Diary of a Explorer: Day 1: We landed on a planet. It is a giant forest, There seems to be no danger at sight. However, this planet is covered by an powerful magnetic atmosphere, disabling most of my weapons and tools. There is wood enough to create a shelter, but it will take me some days. Day 2: This night i couldnt sleep, some noisy wolfs kept howling entire night. I made an firecamp whit some of the wood i collected yesterday to scare them, and i started building the shelter. Like yesterday, no dangers at sight. Day 3: Today i saw eyes. Red eyes watching from away. I better end this shelter soon, i dont know how many time Firecamp will make them stay away. Oh, today i also found one of my friends, but he was hit by one of the wolf. By the size of the claws, i can tell they are very big. He haves an axe, this should help me collect wood faster. Day 4: I can see their shadows moving around the light... They are getting every time closer. I made a knife to protect us, however i dont know if it will be very effective... I must not... Fell asleep... If i do... Day 5: We found the corpse of one of our friends... I must end whit this. I ended the shelter, but i cant stay here forever. I must find a way of stopping the Magnetic force that prevents our ship from fliying. Night 5: THEY RE ATTACKING THE SHELTER! THEY ARE ENORMOUS! I MANAGED TO KILL ONE OF THEM, BUT THERE ARE 7 LEFT! Day 6: I managed to survive... But my friend didnt have that luck. A pilar of wood fell over him... The shelter didnt serve of anything... I must stop this somehow. Night 6: Suspiciously, i cant see any of those. They arent attacking, nor howling. However, i can see two of those red eyes... But they look... Tired? Might just be my imagination... But those wolfs look intelligent... Day 7: I went to the forest, and i could make an sword. I found one of the wolfs while i was collecting wood, but it was sleeping. I was gonna attack it, but it woke up. Is the wolf i saw this night. He ran and kept a distance. Beetween the grunts, i could notice some words... Might just be my imagination. Anyways, it ran away before i could try to attack it. It sounded something like this: Rrrghhsnrgtoprhhgrrgstuprrghumrganrg Day 11: I didnt write on the last days because nothing interesting happened. Today i saw again that wolf, i could notice this: Ghrghsorgnsoftgrrrgtwilgrgrsdighftdonrggtwargggntwggrwafggr This time, i tried to answer: Then why you attacked me? Grggrgrdarkgrrgrsnghgfow Then, as if a key it was, all the wolfs started howling. I looked around, triying to find the source of sound, then i looked back at the wolf, but it wasnt there. Day 12: This night i was attacked. I couldnt write since i had to defend myself. Something weird happened, they were 5 wolfs, i was gonna run away when three wolfs appeared and started fighting agaisnt them. The one that had the lead, i could distinguish whit little light i had from my torch, was that strange wolf. Even trough we were less, fighting together, we managed to beat them, but one of the wolfs on our team died. The leader wolf was hurt from before battle started, so he fighted before coming to help me. I tried to ask: Whats your name? Nrgargr How was i supposed to pronounce that in human??? I shall call you... Razor. (You may name it as you want instead, is just an example) The wolf moved the head, i took that as a Yes. Also, while exploring, i found an human skeleton, he was holding some kind of sword made of a purple material, i took it. I saw something on the dirt, and began to dig. It was some kind of building. I digged a bit more and found a broken window, and went trough it. I found an book made pieces, and in a note of paper I could read: Fr.. Scient..t Serz, Th. Exp..im.nt ..... b.. th. cr...ur. ....me .... host.... I went back to house, and i found Razor sleeping near the door, however he instantly woke up and came towards me. I asked: How can i escape this planet? Kill Dark Snow, he answered, in perfectly human. He told me that he could speak thanks to the sword i was holding. I didnt understand very well how, but i guess it doesnt matter now. Whos Dark Snow?, i said. He answered: Leader Wolf. Where can i find him? The Cave. Day 13: This night an group of wolfs that Razor lead were guarding the house, so there was no ploblems. Today, i will go to The Cave, to kill Dark Snow, and leave this planet. I followed Razor trough the enormous forest/jungle whatever you want to call it, till we found an giant cave entrance. And it was bigger inside. We, Razor, Me, and all the wolfs he had at lead, entered the Cave, and i found out it was even bigger. There was a few wolfs guarding, however, we could kill them, and continue, fighting all wolfs we found, till we reached the central room. There was a lot of wolfs, almost twice as Razor wolfs, and in lead of them all, there was a bigger, white wolf, whit black tail. Dark Snow, i guessed. There will now be a short dialogue: Dark Snow: You! Razor: I came here for revenge, DS Dark Snow: You should be dead, betrayer! Razor: i cannot be a betrayer when you tried to kill me. Dark Snow: You didnt obey. Razor: So, lets end whit this Dark Snow: I wont let you escape this time... Kill them all! Fight begins. Dark Snow and Razor will start fighting each other. They are similar stats, however, the other wolfs will have more ploblems, since they are less, and you will have to help them. After a few mins of battle, Dark Snow will beat Razor, whit half of health, and will attack you. After you beat Dark Snow, most of the enemy wolfs will stop fighting, some will run away, and some will fight till their end. Razor is still alive, however, whit low health. If you look at Dark Snow, you will notice that his skin is desintegrating, leaving a skeleton made of howlite, that will break, destroying electromagnetic force. You will now be able to leave the planet. Rewards: Razor (Or whatever you named it) will join your crew. Howlite: You will get 25 of Howlite Ore. Howlite is an high level ore, which produces light, however, its special effect of being able to understand wolf dissapears after quest, but you will still be able to speak whit Razor. High advancements in Sound Based technology. High advancements in things to help taming/training. Backstory: The Planet: Ko'ol An scientist named Serz found this planet long ago. He found an strange, crystal-like, purple mineral. As soon as he got close to it he felt stronger. He decided to test the effects in another creatures. He brough some wolfs from the earth to the planet, and left there for generations. He then proceed to cryogenize himself for various years, but before that, he made an electromagnetic forcefield go around the planet, After around 7-8 Generations of wolfs, he woke up, to see results of experiment. The wolfs now seemed a lot more aggresive, since they attacked him as soon as he left is shelter. They also were stronger and bigger than normal wolves. They also seemed to be intelligent, since some times an word in human language would come beetween the bunch of grunts. He took some weapons from hangar, and stunned the wolves, then proceed to bring the one that seemed stronger to its laboratory. The effects of the mineral were quite impressive, just by being exposed to them long enough, wolves mutated into more powerful and intelligent creatures. He then begun his first experiment, to transplant an artificial skeleton made of that mineral, that he called Howlite, in honour to the wolves that helped him test the effects, to a wolf. The experiment succeded, however the wolf became so powerful that it was able to wake up from his paralyzed state, and killed the human, he then survived for many hundreds of years, since the regenerative powers of Howlite let it live a lot longer. It also became a lot stronger and powerful than one of the other wolves, but also a lot more aggresive. Then you came. Howlite: This mineral grows in deep and big caves, and rarely in surface. It tends to absorb and distort electromagnetic forces, causing compasses to be inutile. The highest accumulation of Howlite in the surface somehow ´´absorbed`` the electromagnetic field of the scientist, that being the wolf he created. So when you broke the howlite, the forcefield dissapeared. This mineral makes an instant effect, causing any criature near it to become stronger as long as it stays there. But when it goes away the effect dissapears. Being exposed long enough causes permanent effects, making them stronger and resistant, but also more aggresive. The total time exposed is transfered from dad and mother to sons and daughters, so the race will become a lot more powerful and aggresive over generations. To notice any real permanent effect, you would have to be exposed for around 30-40 years. Sometimes, certain familys who were exposed at very long rates and then separated from it for a long time, may rarely evolve an resistance, allowing them to become stronger over generations, and more intelligent, without becoming more aggresive, and also evolve because of being exposed to howlite at almost 3 times faster. Razor was part of one of those kind of families, the wolf the scientist created, Dark Snow, found him a growing menace, and decided to kill him, but failed at it. Razor started to organize an new package of wolfs, and fought back. So, what can i use Howlite for? Howlite tools: They win charges when they do their functions. More charges means increased power. Charges dissapear when you switch the tool or weapon. Sword: Gains up to 25 Charges. Wins 1 Charge for every kill with it. Tools: Gains up to 100 charges. Wins 1 Charge every time it breaks a block or uses its functions. Forcefields: Those are placeable, forcefield blocks. When you place it, it creates an forcefield that buffs people inside. There are different kind of forcefields, each buffing a different stat, or causing some special effects. Those blocks dont need any tool to be retrieved, and if the player who placed it is within 15 blocks of it, other people wont be able to remove it. Reinforcement: You can use a certain quantity of Howlite to reinforce an armor or meele weapon. Reinforcing a weapon or armor causes it to increase its stats a bit, not crossing the line of opness trough (Beetween 1 and 3% or so). Why not ranged? Because ranged dont do damage theirselves, they rather fire bullets or energy beams to do damage. Crafting: You can use a certain quantity of Howlite while crafting a weapon of any kind or armor, this will cause you to have higher chances of receibing an higher value weapon.
You have quite the imagination . I think it would be an awesome quest! But I dont think the reward shouldn't be too powerful >_>

The quest is hard, and 25 Howlite Ore is enought to make a tool (Atleast if its like in Terraria), other than the sword you already have. Razor is just an NPC more, and so haves their features, just that it haves the model of a wolf, if you think thats op, every NPC should be op, by that Standard. And Advancements, well, they are the principal reward of this quest, and yet, an High Advancement for me would be thing of unlocking like... One or two new items/features/upgrades.

I... support but the ore letting you understand is wack why not that you found a translating device in any place you want and the wolf itself carries the device like a necklace it makes more sense and is easier to explain if you want to take him out on a quest. And let the player choose the name then the player gets the feeling they have influence in the quest and they can make descisions rather then watching a story unfold and just fight. Good idea nontheless!

I added the being able to name the wolf. Also changed a few things for it to fit better the background.
Well to throw my two cents on the understanding a wolf. Talking to animals may be odd but .. What do the various races all speak? Is there a shared language they all speak (Galactic Basic) or is it just being glossed over as "You read English so It's in English"? Guess where i'm going with this though is, Is there already a Translator present in the game for the various Races? If not, Heck a Talking Dog in science Fiction isn't a big stretch anyways. You don't have to speak wolf ... the Wolf can just speak English
The wolves would have learnt from the scientist. I did say that the mineral developed their intelligence. (I know this thread should be at a museum but meh im a necromancer).
