It would be brilliant if there was a sonic screwdriver like device in the game. A little multi-purpose stick that could unlock doors and the like.

I don't see why not. Terraria had the 11th Doctor's clothes as vanity this is just the same idea but better. Now if only we could convince the devs to give us Police Box time machines....
the blue box could be an end game item you can construct that could take you to planets that you've visited instantly O_O Don't know much about this game besides its like Terraria (which I love ) but if you hafta fly to planets this could be a good idea in itself even if you don't make a doctor who reference...though that makes it 456789 better ^_^

I would love for a device that interacts with numerous devices in various ways. Then the mandatory "Oh this things rubbish with wood!" when you get to a wood planet, or fight a wood race with wooden weapons.
Gonna necro this rather than creating another thread. I'd love to see a Sonic Screwdriver in the game. Perhaps it'd be a low-powered torch that creates blue/green light or perhaps it just automatically opens unlocked doors in front of your character when you hold down the mouse button? Also, are blue police telephone boxes going to be a craftable item in the game? They should be.
Most people who necro threads aren't aware of what they've done. You're different. Anyway, the possible result of adding your ideas would be a lawsuit from the BBC aimed at Chucklefish for breach of copyright. An Easter egg might be fine, but they can't do anything too explicit.

I suppose I'll just get a flashlight and pretend that it's a sonic screwdriver, that's likely as close as we'll ever get. We should at least be able to make red telephone booths though. Inspector Spacetime, anyone?
Like I said, they can probably get away with an Easter egg. And besides, a red telephone booth has already been done by Bill and Ted. We need another color. Maybe an orange Telstra one.
That is an awesome idea, and even if it's not actually put into the game, there will most likely be someone who'll create a mod for it.
There are mods with Sonic Screwdrivers. I quite enjoy running around planets with the 9th Doctor clothes and hairstyle easter egg, waving around my Sonic Screwdriver-Matter Manipulator.
