'something exciting is coming'

It could be a trailer, although I wouldn't expect that. It could be an announcement for the beta's data, but again, I highly doubt it's that. Maybe it's a revision of the forum or a big livestream or something.

 

I really hope they don't hype the community again for nothing, as it did happen before with the Trailer.
People start to over-hype and then get disappointed when it's not what they expected

or the RoR beta. the beta is 15 bucks, the game is 10.

But a beta is limited. A game goes on for a long time. A limited gameplay with incomplete parts shouldn't cost 1.5 times more than the game itself.

 

Well, a lot of times really hyped people don't want to wait and want to play as soon as possible, and many would pay more for early access, and some devs take advantage of that.

 

I don't really like that way of business. It just comes across as greedy to me. Even if it is good intentions. It doesn't seem right to have to pay extra for a beta when it's a buggy version of the original game and has less features.

Haha, that'd be great. But watch people complain about an expansion pack being DLC. There's always someone.

 

Technically they promised no micro-transactions, any update they do is "downloadable content".

 

Hype you say... This is not a problem, Not like we are still trying to find the 6 character creator easter eggs, not at all.

 

Maybe if it was 5 bucks extra, but more than the game is a lot to ask for.

People are willing to pay for it, which is pretty much all the excuse they need. As long as those people are happy with what they're getting, I don't see the issue, although I agree that I can't see the attraction of it.

 

They get the soundtrack for the extra 5 bucks. It's a package deal. Idk why this guy hasn't noticed that. The usual price for a game's OST on Steam is 5 bucks. Also, some % of RoR proceeds goes to support Starbound development, AFAIK, so maybe that is part of the reason for the inflated price, if I'm wrong about the OST and it really is just a freebie.

 

Trailer maybe? I dunno. Probably not beta, sadly. The cynicism is getting to me!
