Some thoughts about floran culture.

ah. this is what I was trying to remember. I just couldn't recall the fine details.

 

I think the Hyotl village will probably be my favorite generated structure by far. Surprising due to how much of a Floran Loyalist I am.

 

i just want to chime in to tell you about (what i find to be) the most intriguing "inspect" dialogue from florans. i cant remember exactly what it is you examine, but i think it is either a human pc/console, or an apex pc. anyway, the quote is something like "nice technology (or something like that), floran would like to devour".
i take it that either my floran character has a thing for eating computers, or that this is one of the ways florans "reverse-engineer" something. by eating it.

 

The Floran PC also makes a remark about getting into a fight with the arms of a Robotic Crafting Table, so sometimes they make a lot of sense when you think about, others times they just don't think about what it is that they are saying.

 

Awww that sucks, kinda liked how the old lore was. Damn outdated sources.

So just out of curiosity(and off-topicness I suppose) is there any Floran-Avian interaction at all anymore? Lore-wise, of course. http://playstarbound.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/avianlore_pdf.pdf is the only place I could find with all the Avian lore in a specific place.

 

It's probably a (purposeful) Floran to English translation error, or something similar. A lot of foreign languages have things that don't actually make sense when directly translated, but make perfect sense to the speakers. By devour they probably mean take it apart and "devour" the knowledge of how it works.

 

In regards to their race being more childish, I agree. However, this is a good development! One must remember that the Floran race is relatively new to the cosmos, and their culture isn't very developed besides bloodshed.

 

The Hyltol will rise again and reclaim our HomeWorld! One day you'll see...

 

The Homeworld is gone. It's been destroyed so heavily by war that it cannot be reclaimed. The crust has been ripped off, the oceans boiled away, the rocks irradiated and the surface covered in lakes of liquid rock where lakes of liquid ice once stood.

Note to self: Must teach Florans to not slur "s" sounds when saying "as". This could cause unintentionally hilarious-yet-unproductive interpretation by other races.

My thoughts on Floran culture? I find characters that are naively- or brutally-honest and unable-to-monologue-internally to be hilarious. They're so simple that it's a great break from the complexities of reality.

The Omegacorp CEOs new combat assistant (critter, reclaimed from another world (Multiverse Concept FTW)) nicknamed Gwen the Psychic boiled up the blood of the assimilated human and killed him that way. "Good job Gwen, should have given those to you earlier, some of those... berries from where you come from, hope you like them... Headquarters we need immediatly backup here... those 2... problemchild species are arguing again with eachother, somehow we need to get them to work together... for that what is going to come over us."


Alright srsly now: I think those Demon guys are going to have some nice "plot" twist at some point... I mean they are extremly powerfull, evil and words like "The universe will burn and we shall watch" are terrifying overall...
Would be cool if they would drive people insane just for being otherwordly and occasionally turning them into theirs (kinda like Lovecrafts otherworldly monsters). And hell where are my evil cephalopodic aliens ;(... joke I love the evil demon aliens which kinda seem to be extremly powerfull. CF needs to reveal more about them. And then explain how other species react to those guys. Specially florans... would love to see how they fight those guys... or how Hylotl are going to talk to something which considers them as absolutly inferrior and worthless. Who wont even bother to talk and just go ahead and exterminate...
