Yeah, I saw a video about how the most recent generations of mushrooms are closer related to animals than those of plants

Always nice to see someone spin out the hypothetical implications of an interesting idea, well done.

Though admittedly, my view of Florans, as carnivorous, alien plants, is pretty much this:

 

This is my view on how the mating lore should be

I. Pre dance plus butt rub ritual
II. Then mating either self or cross pollination based on their status
III. Finally the seeds produced are placed in the sacred sprout garden
IV. Emergency action to ensure survival of species. Well they are flowering plants and if no mates are available they can reproduce asexually. If they some how get major damage to the flower they will snap off limbs and plant them. Then root in the ground regrowing parts using ground nutrients and photosynthesis.

Self/Cross pollination:Most people
Emergency limb planting: Fox Soul/Waturu/Serenity

I'm working on a Glitch one, and will probably do Novakid as well. Maybe Hylotl and Apex after that
(Avian already has a pretty in-depth pdf of their lore, so I won't do an Avian one, and a Human one is pointless for obvious reasons)

On the issue of reproduction, and whether it can be done with a single individual, keep in mind that there are plants that are unable to reproduce with themselves, so I imagine Florans fall under this category.

Well, technically, most plants are hermaphrodites, as it they have both male and female parts, and can self-fertilize.

 

Wow very nicely done, and thought out.
Not, that they would be friends, but being that Novakids are like walking plasma, I think they would help replenish the Florans.

 

If Florans can synthesize oxygen naturally, then they should be in high demand to colonize barren planets. I'd bet they could be mercenary colonizers, helping other races settle. Also if there are mutant types of Floran with woodier bodies (natural armor bonuses, slower movements) they would probably have no problems with colonizing places with crushing atmospheric pressures or places near absolute vacuum. Lack of sunlight (deep in planets or deep space away from solar systems, would be their main nemesis. Most of their buildings would probably have skylights too LOL.
