Since there will be/is a mechanic in to displace dirt already, I suggest that a Soft Soil Displacement Device be created. Before continuing to the main suggestion bit, "shovel" will be used in place of Soft Soil Displacement Device, because it's shorter. The idea is to basically, have a tool to quickly toss aside dirt for a small hill or perhaps to increase the amount of land before a body of water. There's little to add about what this would do, since a shovel is such a simply understood tool, there's little to add since it's purpose should be rather obvious. One such obvious thing is that it wouldn't really be able to displace rock or a large chunk of ice, but snow, dirt, and other soft soils. Some possible variants for it: Hard-headed Shovel: Large knock-back against enemies. Pointy Shovel: To an extent, good for stabbing(poking, really) and cutting(like a jagged rock). Light-weight Shovel: Swings a little faster. Handsome/Beautiful Shovel: Momentarily confuses/disorients enemies, or stuns them.(Stunning, get it?) Some possible versions/levels of shovel: Lowest quality: Wooden Shovel - Good for absolutely nothing but displacing dirt, perhaps restricted to only one kind of soil. Slightly higher quality version: Metal Shovel - Better knock-back, but otherwise the same except maybe one less restriction. Good quality version: Titanium Shovel - Better attack, but otherwise the same as the previous version with one less restriction. And so the list would continue to perhaps Laser Shovel, maybe Plasma shovel... No idea how that would look, probably just be a weird laser on a stick at that point. If this was planned already, or even is already in the game and everyone else but myself knows about it, then I hope at least it was interesting or amusing.
OR! We could use landmines to blow holes in the ground! Thinking about it in firefights a way to quickly did a trench would be really nice.
Hehe, I'd personally like landmines that didn't blow up the ground to use as a defense around a base.
Yeah, in one hand anti-personnel mines, in the other, a mighty shovel! I suspect I would be invincible with the combination.
Erm... Maybe launch a landmine upward with a shovel...? I'd probably run inside my home/fortress and switch to something a little more... suited for range combat.

I agree, and though I said it as a joke, I actually rather like the idea of launching a landmine with a shovel... Mainly the thought of two people tossing one mine back and forth like playing tennis amuses me.
Yes, give the humans their shovels.. it did them worlds of good when the Bugs invaded... and it will help me bury them easier in my Destruction Garden when I secure one in my sleek leafy grasp.
