So why do the floran hate the Hylotl?

Could have something to do with this from the Floran Peace codex

 

Hold on a moment.


Can we rewind a bit to when greenfinger was happily helping the apex scientist to create a floran apex hybrid like thing?

Remember how he flipped out when she tried to do it herself?

Remember how people talk about hearing dark things about the hylotl?

Remember how at some point in time, greenfinger was friends with (At least one, the explorer lady) hylotl?

Remember when, if you talked to a floran as a hylotl, it was apparently green finger who instructs that the floran should hate the hylotl?

Remember how Greenfinger seems to be responsible somehow for the creation of the beast that destroyed earth?

Remember how tentacles like those on the beast that destroyed earth are exclusively found on aquatic creatures?

I know it's a stretch, but what if once upon a time, greenfinger helped the hylotl with some form of gene splice, to make the hylotl more sturdy and better able to defend against the other 'more savage' races.

Only to have them add to the gene splice on their own against his instructions, and work on it themselves to create something 'stronger', because why wouldn't they know better? Which went horribly wrong, creating the beast that they directed at the florans who they regarded as the most savage of the species encountered, which caused the florans who, in tuuurn created the 'oaken soldiers' that you hear so much about, and used them to fight the beast, and due to being unable to actually kill the beast, perhaps just relocated it, as the rest of their armies marched on the hylotl homeworld to win the war the hylotl started.

...Okay the more I wrote of this the more farfetched it seems, that said, I guess, there is a lot of ways this could go I suppose.

 

So they ate Floran? Ironic isn't it?

 

Correction Floran are a hunter gatherer race. Like certain tribes here in Texas that were known for their aggressive cannibalistic nature.
If they were a warrior race then they would gain all their weapons sheltering and food from other species. Kinda like pirates.
The Floran have their own style of shelter weapons and armor. The only time they do scavenge is when they don't have a certain tech. Like guns, ships, etc.
Like when the English and Spanish came to the U.S they traded furs and certain things for weaponry with the Natives. The Natives didn't make the new technology they just took advantage of it. From what Iv'e seen from dialogue and codex's from Floran they don't enjoy change. Especially when the Glitch tried to teach them how to read. It said that the Glitch are best suited for the job because they are not fleshy and tasty. It would hurt to bite through metal. Some learned to write and some didn't.
When the Hylotl wanted to "spread their glory" this meant spreading onto the Floran tribes as well. Since Florans don't like change that well, they don't like the cause of this change.

Floran reproduce by.. ahem grinding behinds... past that nothing cannon has been said. My theory is basically Golden stars after that process.

The Floran hate everyone, pretty much. If they're edible, they're eaten. The Hylotl didn't take kindly to that.

 

Everyone has something in their past they regret, can't Floran and Hylotl just get along now?

Right now I'm testing other races, but after the next update I'll buid a Floran restaurant in my homeworld. There will be an aquarium with hylotls so the customers can choose one, just like humans choose a lobster. I'll have to edit my character file to have some hylotl spawners.

When they implement npc capture I'll personally look for the most annoying hylotls and take them to my restaurant.

Avians are really tasty as well, maybe we could have a KFA with fried avians? Just an idea.

 

That... that is brilliant never thought of the Lobster Hylotl idea. I made that cook book sometime back I need to re-make that cover to be more slick and official.

I... I want to see this. The idea alone makes me laugh.
Perhaps I should make a Floran to visit such a wonderful 5-star restaurant.
Or maybe have my Apex come by to do some inspections....

There are plants on Earth that eat as opposed to photosynthesis. However they don't always eat regular meals and they are rather slow and/or small.

I just read in a codex that the floran sent ambassadors to meet the hylotl and they called the florans freaks of nature, or abominations, something along those lines. So the floran ambassadors had a small discussion and stabbed the hylotl.

 

No. When people eat each other and have exact opposite cultures they tend to kill each other for quite some time...

AND on that cheery note, can i get some grilled Hytol to go, please and thank you.

 

Guys, quick note about about the Codex entry that talks about a Hylotl ambassador insulting the Florans...

That's an excerpt from Floran Peace, the first-ever Floran-authored novel. It's in-universe fiction.

It's deliberately written to make Hylotl look as unflattering as possible - heck, according to another Codex entry (a critic's review of Floran Peace), the novel contains a fifty-thousand-word diatribe against the Hylotl.

In short, don't take it seriously, or as fact.

 

Screw it I am going to make an attempt at making one when I get home. >: D Stay tuned for it.
