So why are guns useless?

    You would think an assault rifle would do damage, it doesnt. Why?

    Cuz obviously sniper rifles are better :p
    Anyways, the damage from the newest patch makes many weapons weak-sauce or overpowered. The devs are probably trying to fix this.

    well guns are hard to balance when there are melee weapons involved. one is always either underpowered or overpowered. They are still probably working on a balance that will try to keep things good.

    Valid points, and they are totally not gonna keep em this way... cause if tickle bullets existed these would be them.

    They won't keep them this way because they're being worked on, and it's very un-balanced.

    Balance is all over the place on weapons and mobs. Raging horned, tenticled, back spikes, tail axed beast does 26 damage while normal purple bird shoots super-fast wind slash for 50 damage... because of course?

    Yeah, guns atm are whack. Sniper Rifles uber alles. Assault Rifles are just piss-poor. Hopefully they'll be improved in time across the board.

    My dual-wielded grenade launchers for 3k total DPS work pretty well. I have no idea why assault rifles are piss-poor though, the highest I've seen is 1.5k DPS, which is just sad for a two-handed weapon. Even my legendary rocket launcher does a mere 1.4k DPS.

    What sector, pray tell? Because I'm literally seeing 20-26 DPS ones in Sector 3 :p Its just comically bad.

    Oh, I'm in X sector, running around between ice worlds trying to find a USCM base to harvest for blocks (no luck so far though). Level 10 guns seem to cap out around 1.4-1.5k for assault rifles, 1.5-1.6k for shotguns, 2.5k for sniper rifles. Meanwhile I find daggers with 2k DPS and 2-handed melees with almost 3k DPS.

    The saddest part is that I also find machine pistols with 1.3k DPS, entirely defeating the point of assault rifles as you could just dual wield machine pistols and get almost double the DPS (or wield a machine pistol with DPS as good as most assault rifles and a shield in the other hand). Assault rifles are way underpowered, and I don't see why they shouldn't be comparable to sniper rifles in overall DPS.
