My bets are on relgious themed aztec temple style spaceships and technologically "magic" staffs and spears. (more or less the plasma spears that you spoke of.)

 

Take something a Central/Southern Native American would've used. Add flashy lights. There you go.

Probably something like a thing that looks like a spear but opens up into a huge weapon that fires lasers and stuff.

 

We know that they have wings that look ornamental, but are actually mechanical and allow flight.
Everything else is guesswork.
My guesses:

Spears made out of advanced materials that look like steel.
Maybe electrified or superheated?
Think of the Space Marine Power Swords!

Shields that look ancient (like on the concept art) but are capable of withstanding bullets even from Sniper Rifles.
I'd love to see bows! ... that fire explosive filled metal arrows. Or electrified arrows. Or superheated arrows.
Maybe ones that explode into small bombs. Shrapnel.

I like laser and plasma weapons, but I don't think that there's a good way to make them look primitive.

 

Spears with power fields, that can shoot lasers and stuff would be rather nice. Otherwise it'll probably be stuff like the stylised wing jet-packs, and primitive weapons given a sci-fi twist in a similar manner.

Makes me think of the laser staves in the stargate movie. And series I guess

 

Natural weapons like biological bombs are a real possiblity too.

 

Blowpipes that shoot projectiles with lightsaber-sharpened-points.
Or the same projectile technology, but then with semi-automatic spacebows.
Now that sounds like some nifty South-American space-ified technology, hm?

 

Maybe something along the lines of a Goa'uld Staff Weapon?

 

Hopefully a lot of poison based damage, sort of how the WD does damage in Diablo. It would be cool to be able to own people with DoT.

 

I'm guessing what most people have said. Spears and Aztec culture with a mix of technology. Exploding Spears. EMP darts. And a nice warm mug of cocoa...
