So, this is literally one of my favorite games that I have ever played in life, and I deeply WANT it to be an evolving game that keeps me engaged like it has for a few years now, and not almost abandoned like Terraria is. Why in the living (whatever) has there not been an update in almost several months, but only an apology back in Feb? What are you devs doing!? It is a beautiful 2d game, but is the person who slowed you down for soooooooooooooooooo long once it first started back in charge or something?

I agree that Starbound should be an evolving game. I think that its focuses should be to make it an epic Sci Fi experience. That's its first and foremost goal. Its second goal is to give you LOTS of things to do, so you can keep playing it for years and years and never get bored. Those are the kinds of games that get very popular and are very successful. Starbound feels like it tried too hard to be a linear game where you get from point A to point Z. While that makes for a fun game, that doesn't make for the kind of game that Starbound is. Terraria didn't really have an ending, it just kept adding more stuff, and I attribute this to its enormous success. It has static items, items which drop rarely from enemies. Goals. That's something that's almost altogether lacking from Starbound, goals. I feel that more optional stuff, less randomly generated stuff like those randomly generated weapons you can get, less cosmetic stuff, and organized chests which give you a higher chance of finding loot A from them, as opposed to always finding loot A-Z in any chest.

They should also polish some of their existing systems. I feel that pet capture pods and taming is altogether lacking, quests are altogether lacking. It feels almost like it was rushed and they were desperate to get something out they could call a game. Starbound has so much potential, that they should really strive to add new: Legendary tier weapons and armors, unique stuff you can find from mobs (especially unique monsters like Poptops,) new planets, new fish and fossils (I think we already have enough bugs, though, maybe add just a couple of more per new planet type,) more Sci Fi stuff (I think there's an altogether lack of technologically advanced alien bases you can find, for a Sci Fi game about exploring the universe.) It should create side stories past the main storyline for each species. Avians fight the Stargazers, Apex fight the Miniknog, Glitch discover their origins/creator, Floran and Hylotl come to peace maybe? Humans fight Asra Nox and the cultists, Novakid simply...embellish their own story with something which explains them better. They're so mysterious, but at least some of that mystery needs to be explained. They're space cowboy nebula people who travel space in giant rocket trains. Who wouldn't want to talk about them?

What's most important is that they just...try. Starbound may be in 1.0, but it'll only be a finished game once it reaches 2.0 if they keep adding new content, fixing stuff that needs to be fixed, and polishing existing mechanics and systems. Re-add the USCM (maybe just officially make it mean something other than the United States Colonial Marines, which is taken directly from Aliens. Maybe the United Systems Command Military.) Bring back the technological stuff found in USCM bases at the very least. So much was taken out, even Derrick was taken out. I mean why would they remove Derrick when they could have made Derrick a unique mob type? That was just sad, really. Whoever is giving them advice is giving them bad advice.

    This would be so good.
