So -- the "Stretch Goal"..

Am I the only one who wants to hug the Dev Team for -only- putting $500,000 as their current stretch goal? I mean seriously; they have a pretty hefty following by now; just about all of it full of understanding and readily willing individuals eager to throw money at -- er.., lend a helping hand.

Seriously though. Every refresh, and there's 5-6 new backers every single minute, and a few hundred more dollars. Every five minutes; and they're up by another grand or two.

SO. Who thinks they will far and beyond surpass $500,000 and hit a million? Two million? BEYOND!!?

 

I highly doubt it will reach 2 million, it will probably reach somewhere between 700k to 1.35 million.

 

Eh, needs more options. I think they'll get just under 1mil, like around 800k or so. Going by my guesstimate that beta will be in a month, two tops.

Hard to predict. If some more promotional material gets created (and more reviews/news sites cover Starbound) there could be additional surges of pre-orders in the future. Once there is more information, videos and other details readily available, more orders will assuredly be placed... if people like what they see. I will not be surprised to see pre-orders reach 1 million at this point (pre-launch). Before beta though? I think that number is certainly possible, as I do not think Beta is for another month or more at the earliest (but I could be wrong).

I didn't vote because I think it's going to be between 500k and 1million. I bet it will skyrocket past that when they confirm a date for beta.

The game does have a big following but it's not quite "cult following" as it's mostly people who loved Terraria and wanted something more.
I'd say it's on the level of Minecraft during it's early years. It's popular and fresh but not quite something like it is today.

Not to mention like MC, the following for Starbound is typically in the younger crowd which doesn't quite have the disposable income to throw at the game.

 

Definitely need a Starbound trailer for guaranteed $1mill.

 

At the rate its going and since there is no knowing when it will actually come out, I'd say 2 mil.

 

You really think it'll go that high? It's barely moved beyond $462k and it's been about half an hour...but then again I should think about timezones and when everyone else sees that pre-orders it could indeed explode.

Yes, but think about the potential timescale here. We have no release date beyond sometime this year, and given previous experience with release estimates, the preorder could well be going for a couple months and potentially even longer.

 

Well we're at $477k so that's only $13k away so I guess we will achieve at least the $500k.
I also saw on Twitter that TB and Jesse are going to get an early copy so that'll boost sales alot!
