So is Greenfinger a Floran or a Hylotl?

I am assuming the experiments they were conducting were Biological? If that is true, what could be hidden in the Florian DNA that Greenfinger doesn't want other races to know? It is super interesting, and leads to tons of fun speculation.

Also, if this is something that Greenfinger has known about for a long time, I wonder if he ever included the rest of the Florians on the secret.

As an aside, something still bugs me that he is such an anomaly among the Florians. Which is why I keep wondering if he isn't truly Florian at all. What could cause him to stand apart from the rest of them in regards to his intelligence and attitude? Such a wonderful mystery!

 

I've speculated it has something to do with the Agaran Menace, which is, still, just that. Speculation. There is no concrete evidence to prove anything. He ain't an Agaran, that's for sure.

And it would be silly that Greenie wouldn't be a Floran. Two codices refer to him as a "Floran leader", he is called "Greenfinger of the Floran", and Florans explicitly call him "a special floran".
With the hints about his extreme age, I think he is a Floran that considers himself as a head of his species. Dunno, that's just the vibe I get from his books. I think there's something in the DNA, but my personal opinion is that he's a Floran. But you're right, it is fun to speculate.

Well they are rewriting all the lore. Perhaps greenfinger is now an organization rather than a person...
If so, I will miss the mysterious mad floran scienist...

 

Yet there's the Floran Sandstone Statue... That was altered recently too and is still the same. What the descriptions say:

Floran: Greenfinger. Ssspecial Floran. Sssmell funny.
Glitch: Hypothetical. I believe this statue depicts a great Floran leader.

So maybe that's just a one greenfinger amongst many. So floran leaders would be called greenfingers, maybe. Or that's the Greenfinger, who'd be something like a greenfinger above all others? Or a greenfinger that's just somehow different? Seeing the Apex description makes me think it's plausible, because I can see how it could fit to the Greenfinger we already know.
I'm not sure do I fully believe either of these theories... But there are probably multiple greenfingers in either case.

 

It could be that while there is the one Greenfinger that meets with Thornwing and the others, greenfinger could also be the title given to a Floran tribe's leader to honor him.

 

Could be. Perhaps the title would be inspired by the name Greenfinger. Or maybe the other way around; a greenfinger that uses the title as a name.

 

I was thinking more of the title inspired by him, personally.

 

Maybe green finger is a floran that the apex experimented on in order to give him a vast knowledge of many things and help with other science experiments including convincing the other florans to go through the same experiment he went through in order to make the entire floran race a more advanced and intelligent race in order to team up with the apex to then at some point gain mass control over the Galaxy

 

This quote still sounds suspicious. If the Floran are able to identify things by their scent, what smells funny about the statue? Is that a reference to the dialog where there was a Hylotl corpse in the statue instead of a Floran one?

Just sounds odd to me.

 

I don't think that's canon anymore. Perhaps there is another reason for the smell... or maybe it actually means that Greenfinger smells weird, not the statue.

 

Floran sssure Greenfinger isss leader of ssspecific Floran tribe, like othersss sssaid. Like human presssidentsss or mayorsss. Thisss make Floran believe Greenfinger isss Floran.

So the Greenfinger discussed in other racial texts might be a Greenfinger from a large, possibly expansive floran tribe.

 

Maybe, if those texts still exist... (??? :L)

 

Since most lore has been re-written, we'll have to fall back into doubts on everything until we read enough of the new entries.

Floran isss okay with thisss.

 

Perhaps, much like the glitch were created by some unnamed entities and the avian raised to an interstellar species by the same token, the floran were also created by some not yet named group? This group could actually even be the same race, although perhaps different individuals, experimenting with different forms of life?
