I want to build the wall from game of thrones, I need many Many ice to build that wall, but somebody told me that I shouldn't build a big things, because it's most likely will be erased again in the next version, really? Because I have a planet where I put all my collection and stuff in it, I Do Not want to waste any time building something and then turn to nothing, especially something big that I put many effort to, I hope it's not really, but if it's not real, the most important question here is: where's the ice?

 

Shouldn't be a wipe. If they do add more biome stuff all you would have to do is explore out to further stars you haven't been to yet. Similar to the way minecraft does it, however unlike minecraft you won't get those odd borders, far as I know.

Anyways, it is highly unlikely since that was something that they were trying to achieve, is to ensure they don't have to do so. Meaning the chance is slim on that. That is minus a corruption happening, but at least files have a backup of sorts in that case... I think. Not sure if the world files do... Haven't looked in a while.

to find ice. Got to ice worlds. or any snowy planet I guess....

 

Curious to know where the person told you of a wipe got their information.

 

If anything, the save files wouldn't be wiped. They would become incompatible with the latest Starbound version. I find this unlikely since 1.0 has been released. Developers in general try to make sure that save data continues to be compatible along with the continual updates if at all possible. If you're feeling especially paranoid, you could backup the game's install, ensuring that there will always be a version of the game on your hard drive that you can play your current save file on. Granted I have only been with Starbound since 1.0, but I would be surprised if the save data became incompatible any time soon. It would piss off a lot of people.
If this game is anything like Minecraft, and the game gets updated, you would have to generate new chunks in an unexplored area of the universe to see future update content on new planets or biomes that may not have existed before an update, for example. Someone who has been with Starbound for longer than I have should be able to tell you CF's history with this kind of thing.

It sounds like they were talking about pre-1.0, with the pre-release version of the game there were times when the universe and/or characters were wiped, but you were warned ahead of time this might happen. They wouldn't have done a full release if they thought they would still need to do periodic wipes.

They said "no more character wipes once 1.0 comes out." There was one final character wipe for 1.0, if that's what you're talking about, which does not violate the Devs' statement. So no, a never did not happen.
