So I lost my storage with all my items inside. I am I NOT upset?

So a few reasons why I am not ENRAGED about losing my storage chest with all my cool stuff that I have found:

-The possibility of running into those items again are fairly endless, there are just WAY too many planets to hit up!

-This is beta, I did not jump into playing beta to have a chance at playing an awesome game before release. I play because I want say that I am one of many who helped get this game going. I helped SB become a polished game for everyone to enjoy! Another bug bites the dust!

There was a BIG disclaimer before beta was open to everyone, if you hate bugs wait for the full release. Everyone has a right to their own opinion and I completely understand that most of you are quite upset, but you had to know what you were getting into before you pressed "play" for the first time

I'm not upset either, but I'm annoyed.

I've been trying to get an answer whether or not there are plans to fix the shiplocker and vanished chest-issues. If not, fine I can start a new character - not the end of the world. But right now I can't start playing until I get an answer. The update on the main page is very vague and it doesn't tell me if one can expect more hotfixes or if that's it.

 

Logically explaining to someone who is upset why they shouldn't be upset won't end well. but good luck!

as for you, @Mood, the vanished chests/shipfiles are gone. forever. if that's what you were asking. (this post might be of help, though unofficial)

It's annoying, but the game is fun enough for me that I don't care too much. It's beta. Stuff of this nature is bound to happen.

It's hard playing a game while it's being built. It's harder for the developers by many miles. But one day it'll all come together.

 

I agree with all the stuff above, and thank you OP, there were just too many threads complaining.

 

this is just how it goes this early in the software development cycle. "beta" has been so diluted (even by CF, starbound is an alpha right now, by the common metric) that people assume the "in development" thing is just boilerplate to cover someone's behind.

(Except the Alpha assertion. Aplha/Beta terms are diluted because of the multiple aspects of software development. A developer chooses how each stage will work and any differences between another company or practice holds no sway over the terminology.
But yeah, there are bastards out there that pervert such things and end up creating the issues we see now where people fail to grasp what exactly a beta is)

Yeah I fail to see why people are even getting attached to their characters, items and gear. The game is nowhere near feature complete and much of what we do have are place holders, which means we can't be sure what items would even transfer over to the next stage of the game.

My character has existed across all wipes, it takes 10 seconds to recreate him and I start each big wipe fresh anyway to avoid these issues and to test from step 1 again.

I'm ok with it cuz I was lucky enough to not lose much. Most of what I lost is in the printer. The only other stuff was a chest that had a few techs I already have and a chef spawner, of which i have 2.
Only real loss was my chest of musical instruments. None of the uber rare ones like the Ocarina, fortunately...

So how do I turn off auto-update? Seems like a fair bit of this is avoidable if you wait a few days.

 

Honestly these threads irritate me more than the ones complaining.

"Look everyone, I'm not upset! Like me plz!".

Also I'm not saying OP is doing this. Its just my general feeling when people decide to spam post these.

 

That doesn't surprise me. I mean, you saying that is like me being ok with bugs because it's a beta.

 

All I had in there was extra seeds and seeds I was never gonna use, so I'm not too upset.
