    AND I LOVED IT!

This has been one of my favorite games I've ever played! Spent the past week playing it, and that whole time was a blast!

It's just the fact that there are soo many little details and nice little pieces put into the game, that has just made it one of my favorite things ever!
I loved all the different furniture and block types, but mostly furniture! I really love how you can just interact with more or less every single thing you place! There are so many possibilities on their own, so that doesn't even count all of the different combinations possible!
I also love how many different clothing types there are, and the fact that you can dye them all to fit your personal preference makes it just ten times more awesome! I doubt I have even scratched the surface of the types of clothes out there.
I also liked how the NPCs were "consistent" throughout the world, so like, you could actually recognize people you come across several times. For example, "Oh yea! I remember you! You were the guy who I made a FREAKING TIGER HAT for!"

The dialogue was pretty funny ( S.A.I.L.'s danger readings were great ), and I just loved exploring every nook and cranny of each world!
It really felt nice reading all the stories you could discover in the game and letting your imagination run wild when just "interacting" with the NPCs! I also loved going through the dungeons (not talking about the ones in the missions), since my personal favorites were the Evil Glitch Castle in the Sky and the Zombie Labs! Those were just really neat!

I also thought that it really was nice seeing all the different "home-types" in the game. Each "village" had it's own unique personality type, which was nice.

I really liked helping making the "Museum" for Mr. Library Fishman. That was a little tedious scouring the galaxy for items, but the Museum at the end really felt worth it.

I also loved the idea of "crew-building" that you added into the game!
I really loved the idea that if you completed these side-quests alongside the main story, you could build up your own "crew" members who had all their specific jobs on the ship! The fact that you could customize how they looked too was really nice! It gave everything a nice "personalized" feeling!
It sort of gave me a Knights of the Old Republic type of feel to it. I had to imagine the backstories however.
( Maybe a future update could give randomized backstories to each of your crew members?)
It was nice that everyone in your crew just seemed "unique" from each other. I also loved that you could get pets. Even the tiny, non-aggressive things, like our pet land-squid named Tashi. When I discovered that the pet station let you actually keep pets in an area without you I freaking loved it!

The fact that the game lets you do about anything you imagined you could do was also awesome!

It was nice being able to interact with vending machines, but it was soooooo satisfying being able to disable the shield generator, "steal" the vending machine, place it in your crew's quarters on your ship, and still buy soda and chocalate bars from it! (It was not satisfying being unable to collect pixels from people buying your drinks, but meh, you win some you lose some.)

I also love how that since I kept my Broken Sword in my ship's locker that I could eventually fix it up in the future when I rescued the Baron! I just kept it for sentimental reasons, but taking it back and turning it into a LASER SWORD was amazing!
I also loved that you could "sneak around" villages and steal furniture without them noticing. It's a fun little mini-game!

It's also fun being able to manipulate your environment to make traps for tough enemies!

The fossil mini-game completely surprised me, since I never knew it existed! It was frustrating and a lot of trial and error at first, but I felt so proud when I found my first foot fossil! At least the brushes are cheap.

    The music system:
    Best. Thing. Ever.

I've been making some .abc files myself just to listen to it while growing crops or flying to other star systems! There is nothing greater than listening to your adorable little character sing "Anyway You Want It' - by Journey with a microphone while flying at faster than light speeds towards a distant star!

If only there was a dance animations so other players/NPCs could dance along with it!

    I honestly liked the story:
Some people think it's predictable, but maybe it's just that I like good old Hero's Journeys stories. I guess what made it "feel right" was that I only did one "Gear-Up, and Mission" every day. So I like, would only do one "story-mission" per playing session, otherwise I was exploring the galaxy, trying to get my gear and ship to the right level, before I did a mission. This gave the story decent pacing for me. So it sort of felt like I was watching a cartoon, like Samurai Jack (if any of you folks ever watched that younger), where a hero travels across the world helping folks along the way, making friends/allies, and saving the day before finally facing the final challenge. Some people may dislike it for being too generic, but I don't know, I enjoyed it. I tend to disagree with most critics on what movies are good and bad, so I usually enjoy most stories. It's my personal taste!

    - Ending Spoilers -

The sacrifice and revival at the end was a little expected. Before that final mission I gave my whole ship an imaginary speech saying that "If I don't make it back, Star, my first mate will be Captain. Be good folks, and always remember to fight for justice." So that made the ending a little more intense. Though, I was expecting more of a humorous... "oh yea, we have cloning" revival than a serious "The great spirit will revive you" type of respawn. Though that's fine too.

    Alright, some criticism:

    There are Glitches...
Those medieval robot people just get on my nerves! (Just kidding, I love you beep boopers out there)

But yea, sometimes there are some minor things which were a little weird. Like NPCs getting stuck in the floor (got fixed in a patch though, which was awesome!), and the grappling hook being all funky... (which... also got fixed in a patch!), or like having a crew member land the killing blow on a bounty but the quest not completing, and a few minor things, but nothing too game-breaking so far. (I heard about the Erchius Horror instantly killing folks some times, but I haven't test it out myself yet.) So that's just a little bit more polishing needed to be done, but you guys have done great so far with the patches! Those are the main issues however. I thought the food system was better than it had even been before, and I liked how the game really felt "complete" compared to the last stable build from ages ago.

I've also had some weird FPS drops, though they have been getting better with the recent patches.

Sometimes things are not explained clearly
The crafting took some time to get used to, but it was really nice one you figured out how the system worked.

There are also a few things which never got explained beforehand, like whether crew members died permanently upon death, or if they were invincible or not in the first place, or like how much health they had.

It also was a little confusing on the final missions, since at first, I literally thought I had to defeat the planet by literally mining away the whole thing. I was thinking I could've damaged it by just chopping down all the tentacles on the surface. I nearly circumnavigated the planet as a crazy lumberjack looking for any mouth openings to throw bombs into before I realized I should've been digging straight to the core.

    A few suggestions:
While playing the game, there were a few things that I just really wish that you guys tweaked, so here's a short-list. (If these are ACTUALLY available in-game now, please inform me and I will be extremely grateful!)
1 - Being able to give that person who's pixels were eaten on Earth a free drink. (Really, really wanted to.)
2 - Being able to full customize the outfit of EACH crew member. While it's nice to have a rainbow of everyone wearing the same things, I sort of wish I could give everyone their own unique outfit, and change their hats. It's not as fun going on a stealth mission when you try give everyone black ninja clothes, and then you have Mr. Orange and Mrs. Neon Green Ninja following you.
3 - Giving every different character a unique Outpost. I sort of would like any siblings/guests to be able to have their own Outpost without all the "refinements" in order to let them have the same "feeling" when playing the story.
4 - Having more emotes. I sort of wish I could stick my hands above my head and scream, or make a little puke, or just stick my hands out "over" a fire, just like how the NPCs can too. It would be nothing but cosmetic, but it would be nice for folks who are into making machinimas.
5 - Being able to scan EVERYTHING and throw it into your 3D printer. There is quite a lot of furniture that I am not able to recreate in my 3D printer which is a little disappointing. (Usually cooking stations.)

    (Low priority stuff)
6 - Maybe an "expanded" universe, where there are new random combinations of backgrounds, temperatures, blocks, and weather. Since sometimes "Barren" planets just don't cut it, without the nice background. Or maybe just a way to "change" the parallax background and music of a planet. That would be nice.
7 - I sort of miss the penguin/giraffe/koala loading screens, but the instantaneous loading time is nice.

    Overall:
Thanks for the game Chucklefish! I loved it the whole way through. I liked your little note at the end! It was a nice touch! I can really see that you guys put a lot of heart and soul into this game, and I appreciate that a great bit!

I still doubt I have even "scratched" the surface of what is there to find in this game though! I'm thinking of trying to figure out that translator book thing, and all those rare collectables!

I haven't even built my own colony yet! I enhanced the shelters of "wild" NPCs but nothing from scratch yet! So that'll be fun!

Then I can get started on making some really neat inventions with the wiring system!

Please cut down on the giant text; this post was really hard for me to read when you've got like size 24 font.

EDIT: After reading the formatting in your post you've literally got MULTIPLE size tags for the same line of texts.

That was literally the least constructive criticism I have ever read. It's fine, it's just you with the reading problem.

Anyway, I too enjoy the content that the game had. The only thing that I really feel is missing are due to a few plot holes that I have seen in the beginning of the story, as well as the things you have mentioned.

Looking around, it seems that everyone's complaints (Whether honest, or, in most cases, over exaggerated) falls under what you said, or due to wanting to have the new content that Chucklefish is getting ready to release NOW. I would enjoy new content, yes, since after one finishes the main storyline the game feels sort of empty (I have just been scouring the universe trying to find all the logs, since I'm a sucker for game lore, but it's tedious at best, and there aren't that many of them.). Overall, the game will improve as more features are completed and get released.

Also, to all those people who are like "It took them so long, why is the game like it is? Why don't we have more? What were they doing all that time?" Just shut up and realize that things happened, probably stuff that you don't want to know anyway (I bet they could bore you with all the details if you patiently were able to get into an interview with them and insisted, if they even had the time) and that there is no point crying over spilled milk, and it just makes everyone annoyed at you and skip all of your comments.

    Shooting Star Existential Complex

Well many people have critique of the game but whether it's negative or positive doesn't make it any less or more valid

As for the original post I agree with most things bar the story but I think the biggest reason for negativity is that starbound is about "unending exploration" or that's its main selling point which the game simply is not really. That's why there is so much "negativity" but they most often all boil down to the same 3-4 things. It doesn't mean the game is bad because it has only a few bad points but the bad points that keep getting brought up should be seriously looked at before cf can pat themselves on the shoulder

The major bad points all point in the same direction which is replayability which is rather crucial for a sandbox game and that's what most people also expected out of starbound a long sandbox experience not one that takes 10-15 hours.

Well my imagination is not what Starbound can fulfill, it did furfill more of that in the past.

if this is a sandbox game:
Why is my name limited to lousy 16 characters?
why can't I even choose if I want a (ship) pet and which one? Thats the absolute opposite of a sandbox).
Why can't I decide what ship I am in (with the current story it makes even less sense that the players ship is bound to his race)

SB ahs a lot nice features too many are just unfinished and thats why the game lacks the greatness it deserves.

    Polecat Phantasmal Quasar

hey OP, if you think not being able to lend the guy a few pixels in the beginning was bad, I already complained you can't rescue the entombed human in the Apex mission's secret room (Go ahead, scan the 4 sarcophagi in there, one is a human one. if you click it, you can hear someone moaning/crying in it! Seriously, I was playing an AVIAN and I wanted to save the poor guy...)

in my mind, the greatness will come.

You make good points, but i dont think 1.0 is the end of starbound development forever.

    LilyV3 Master Astronaut

more than 2 years passed and they mostly made things cut off. it is extremely hard to believe the diversity comes back, especially sicne a lot development made preset thingd appear over generated ones. There seems to be a sepcific design decision made by CF which just indicates that this direction isn't going to happen.

For me the game as is right now Doesnt feel "Samey" it feels Coherent, albeit a little TOO coherent. This is mostly a personal taste thing, however.

From what i recall, Although i cannot name where i heard this, 1.0 was them nailing down the core engine and mechanics, and now content can be added freely to the game without any infrastructure changes or such.

The past few times i have seen you and others post in threads and such i've disagreed, but you have swayed me over the past few days.
