So how does refueling work now?

I just got to a moon for the first time, couldn't find the usual pools of liquid Erchius so I figured you mine crystals now instead but I keep getting chased by a huge pink worm that I can't shoot. Does this happen every time you mine for Erchius crystals? because if it does this is going to get tedious fast.

Also, I thought I had plenty of crystals but when I added them to the ship the fuel gauge only went up by a small margin.

I preferred the earlier pre-combat update early access for gathering fuel. I had plenty back then.

    liquid one is deeper.

one crystal gives 2 fuel, so you need a lot.

or buy the fuel at the store in the outpost.

You can find the liquid stuff deep in the core. My advice is not to go that deep unless you have an escape plan or can mine really fast, as the more fuel you gather, the faster the ghost flies after you.

Also remember that the outpost's outside shop sells liquid fuel, and you can always buy it there if you don't feel good about the moon yet.

Getting fuel on the moon is mostly the same, with a bit of risk added (which I like, it was a bit boring before).

First, explaining how the "huge pink worm that I can't shoot" works.
IF you have erchius crystals or liquid fuel on you, he appears and chases you. He will kill you if he catches you. You cannot harm, stop, or affect him.
The more fuel you have the faster he goes.

So my plan for getting fuel is:
    1) Path down to where liquid fuel starts... getting no crystals.
    2) finding a good lake.
    3) Building/clearing an escape path to be sure I can get out easily.
    4) Grab the fuel, and go.

Crystals I think are 2 fuel per, liquid is 1 per if I recall correctly; but some lakes can have 500+ liquid; so I feel they're the way to go.

Ahh, I see. Okay, interesting. So the ghost comes after you because you're carrying Erchius... so what happens if you drop a chest and bung the Erchius in that - does the ghost go away if you're not carrying any?

I think so, yeah. It's just being overprotective is all. You should test this, as I haven't.

Hmm, it still moves towards you buy very slowly. As as you collect the fuel from the chest it then comes after you quicker, depending on how much fuel you just picked up.

Is there always just the one ghost? I don't think I could handle any more than one.

On a separate, slightly related, issue why can't I beam down to my "home" planet while in orbit of another? I used to be able to do that in early access. Do I have to craft teleporters now in order to do this?

Only one. It seems that when I have moved far away very fast, it still has to catch up to me, so that's a plus.

I just buy fuel, it's easy to make pixels.
For your home planet, yeah, you need a teleport point,
flags can be used for this and are much easier than teleporters to get.
Make them by hand, 1 copper bar and 20 woven cloth.

Great, what do I use make them with (what crafting table) or do I need a blueprint first because I've not seen anything like flags yet. It's getting pretty tedious having to move my ship back to the home planet where I've stashed my stuff.

its in the right upper crafting menu, you don't have to make them at a station.

Oh yes so they are, I keep forgetting about the basic crafting menu!
