as a soldier you would wear body armor under it though thus making it snow infantry armor

ok how about this have multiple tier of snow armor:

tier 1: would require copper armor, some leather, and maybe an iron ingot and pixels. would give same defence as copper armor but with ~5-10 warmth
tier 2: would require gold armor, some leather and maybe a steel ingot, and pixels, would give same defence as gold armor but with 15-20 warmth.
    etc
    etc
    etc...

it'd basically be like upgrading, and the copper version wouldn't completely protect you from the cold either just make it so you won't freeze as quickly, and maybe a third tier would be give best protection for cold. but the point is it won't overpower other armors of similar levels.

Cold planets at higher tiers are pointless as it stands now. Higher variants of snow armor would be nice.

It's either freeze to death or get 1hitkilled by anything that touches you.

So it used to be as good as gold armor? I didn't know, but it was head and shoulders above silver, so I used it continuously before the patch.

After the patch, I still use it. I don't like going to ice worlds though. Not because the mobs kill me instantly (Because they don't, if you know how to fight), but because I usually run with my snow infantry armor as my cosmetic skin.

It makes me look like Ace Rimmer.

Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.

as i said in another thread, they should make snow armor a VISUAL armor only, but give the heat boost!
So, it would give 0 defense, but give you heat!

It's like putting a winter equipment on top of you armor!

Don't know if it's possible to make it that way, but it's the best and only way it should be IMO!

Originally it was actually better than any of the armor you could initially craft with the anvil, but maybe when they fixed it they just broke it in the opposite direction. I wouldn't get too attached to the gear balancing at this point, I bet the final balance factors won't even be close to what they look like currently.

You can avoid monsters. Be careful when approaching them, and box them/yourself if absolutely necessary. Having movement techs helps a lot here; using the airdash tech (can't remember the name) or butterfly/bubble boost allows you to fly over them and gain enough distance to make them lose interest. Having a strong weapon will also make your attacks knock enemies back, meaning you'll survive any fight as long as you never let the enemy get past your broadsword/hammer/axe. (If you play shortswords/daggers/bows just avoid the monsters unless you can dodge well enough.)

Having used the armor just recently
I was on a cold moon and then planet...
I only wore the main armor (cuirass?) and was no longer affected by cold
Is it meant to be this strong?

To be honest, with the effort I had to make to craft that thing, you'd think the snow "infantry armor" would actually be useful. I personally dont use it for anything but cosmetics anymore, it's just too weak to justify the time and effort to hunt furs for it. I'd suggest lowering the crafting requirements and making it upgradeable using copper>Iron>Gold and so on like was suggested above.

Um, snow infantry armor should either get a mild boost or the monsters on ice planets should be compaatively weak, since the point of that suit is to allow yoyuu to survive on the gold planets. perhaps make moon and snow planet monsters hit really weak but have high survivability to make the snow armor usefull there and otherwise make it take so long to kill things on the moons and snow planets that without leather armor you freeze to death killing one mob. I, for one, tend to swap out my steel chest for snow chest from time to time if im getting really cold and just swap back when im about to go in combat. carrying that chest piece around is better than a campfire in most cases anyways. the set has limited usefulness and its o for now. just make monsters on snow worlds and moons really tanky and weak hitting and it will be fine as is. leather is not useless at all.

i will say that anyone who thinks leather is easier to make than iron doesnt know what they are talking about. i had a full set of silver armor by the time i had enough leather for the snow infantry armor.

You can get it relatively fast if you're willing to run around with a bow for 45-120 minutes depending on luck :p

I love the armor. Snow planets and moons are my favorite, Since they usually have the high tech bases.

And the high-tech dungeons on snow planets remind me of hoth.

So just throwing out my 2 cents here. have used the Snow Infantry Armor since it got nerfed and slightly before (during so called birdocalypse) Running on tier 2 moons in it as well as snow planets. and so far I don't die much. Now admittedly maybe I'm one of those people with a raging desire for challenge in the game. but I didn't have problems, quite literally ever, with birds or groundside mobs, above ground or under it, while wearing this armor. I just played like I was made of tissue paper and thanked the powers that might be for clothing that preventing insta-icicles on my everything. better it has low defence than needing a campfire or 3 torches every ten feet. Died a total of 3 times so far on these planets. once to mobs, once to falling like an idjit, and once to a mini-boss that I somehow didn't see. also a little dedicated hunting is all it takes to make the set, maybe 20 mins and that also gets you all set on meat for a while too. just don't miss and get decent at hitting the sweetspot on shots. if that's too much you smack them a few times with a melee weapon to make it even easier.

Do people really need more than the Chestpiece? I only needed the chestpiece and I didn't lose any heat, ever

This armor was only added as a way for us to survive the cold planets. It wasn't intended as a 'combat' suit. Doesn't matter if 'armor' is in the name. That's pretty much it.

That said, you can wear just the chest and sometimes just the helmet to counteract the cold - while wearing your other normal armor pieces.

I'd wager that the original intent was to have the extreme weather planets be inaccessible early game - judging from how mineral rich they tend to be.

Speaking of this sort of thing - I'd love to see areas of vacuum that require special suits to access them.

Just a thought but could they not just make snow clothes a vanity item that provides warmth? If you put a coat on over armor you would be warmer just sayin,.,

this ^ can't really speak for the current patch , but pre-indignant, you could swap out pants or head gear for the snow equivalent and have the best of both worlds until you got proper armor
