Snow Infantry Armor is basically useless now

Guys, seriously. The clothes work as intended now. Deal with it. Don't like it, too bad. It sacrifices armor for heat. Complaining about item name is a straw man argument. I like it, because it makes snow planets a dangerous place to be - I don't want all planets to be easy mode. As you get further in the game, you'll see there are armors that do both.

My thing is that it's made out of leather so it should have at least a rating of 6 in armor when you have the whole set. Basically making it stronger than normal clothes but weaker than outright armor.

Different planets - Different hazards. Forcing the player to wear a bear suit to avoid freezing to death is not any different than telling players to fight naked on any other planet.

So guy, seriously - "Intended" is your opinion. Not everyone shares it. I could go on a long rant about how animals that live in cold climates, wouldn't be able to move and do what they currently do.

Addition: Instead of forcing the player to wear bearsuits all of the time, temperatures could fluctuate between high noon and midnight. Snowstorms could force you to burrow beneath the surface and stay warm for a short period of time.

See what it does is render Snow planets worthless until you eventually reach whatever tier it takes to have real armor that also protects from the cold. Why go there when you can go to any other type ever? Wasted space in Beta sector at the very minimum.

It's actually based on the Hoth Rebel uniforms, which I found really cool.
So now you know, and knowing is half the battle!

I think this is the most reasonable 4-6 armor for a leather suit with decent warmth. Not more than iron but a little bit more than plain clothes.

Setting it at 6 makes it weaker than copper which I believe is a good compromise.

I say make it more than your base clothes, but keep it below iron, so that way its still an Armour, but its not the best

It's called "learned to freaking dodge.", it's genuinely not that hard.

I'd take Iron level defense given that still leaves Silver as Vastly superior Tier 1 armor. They could also slip in snow armor for every tier until normal armor eventually beats even the worst cold.

That's more for the reference's sake really.

maybe what they can do is have snow armor as an alternative tier to silver armor, in that it requires copper armor first, then it could probably give equal protection to copper armor with the warmth bonus

So anyway, whats the deal with Level 1 desert planet having monsters shoot 32 damage snowballs?

Excuse me, good sir, but have you PLAYED the new patch? Anything that soars through the air has it in for you. They hit hard and from a distance. They travel in groups of two to three most of the time. And the best you'll have in tier one is a freaking iron bow.

I actually got a pistol on my first planet from this latest patch... It only does 5 damage though =(

Better than a 5 damage broadsword.

I kinda wish it was different for each race.

It fits for Human, Apex, and maybe Glitch, but looks out of place on my floran. Until I put the hat on, then it doesn't really matter since I can't tell I'm a floran anymore

Really, what they should do is have an insulation slot separate from your armor slot. That way, snow armor will be neither overpowered nor underpowered; you can use your regular armor and still get heat from the snow suit.

The snow infantry armor gives absolutely massive amounts of resistance to the cold, so I would think that the optimal way to use it is to replace your worst armor piece with a piece of snow infantry armor.

That way you should get a significant amount of resistance to cold without sacrificing too much armor.

Wearing the full set on a very high lv planet is likely just suicidal, though.

Not much with how much energy pulse jump eats and the slower regen.

with the defense it had before it would have to have been an alternative to steel
