My friend, this is an amazing suggestion and it would be a big thing to miss out on. It's such a simple thing, but it can add so much to the game! Thanks for posting this, you have my + and I sincerely hope this sees the light of day!
i can definitely see this being as fun as heck, imagine being in a dungeon and it looks like its a dead end but wait! it isn't there is a secret entrance that you have to crawl through *i am also suggesting that dungeons with secret entrances would have front blocks that you cant see through...
This needs to happen and sooner rather than later. I want to jump and climb through the world rather than resorting to the ol pickax bulldozer or spamming blocks. I realize we have rope and grapples in the game now but neither are anywhere near as useful as they are in Terraria.
Yes, every definition of the word yes. In sandbox games like these freedom of movement is simply amazing and beyond fun, especially for home base security or aerial bases where you can make it difficult to get in, or if you just want to look cool doing it. P.S. I cant vote positively enough times
Voted up. I would love it if it were difficult to truly master the movement in the game, but once you do you can get around easily. That makes it fun. I remember one of the Spiderman games on the XBox - the first one - where I had a blast just swinging around the city because it was challenging to keep up speed and momentum. I don't know exactly how that translates to Starbound but I hope it does.
Reasons i say i want this mod Because it seems like a good idea, and would add fluidity to the game. Real reasons... Snake... you have to infiltrate the apex facility, use the ventilation shaft....
Brilliant ideas, all of them. With crawl spaces and also wall-jumps a part of the game, dungeon generation could incorporate hard-to-reach places. Running through an abandoned temple and quickly escaping a moving boulder by crawling through a small space, or climbing a tower by wall-jumping to quickly reach some loot. Hell, what if you made your way through a base, and a meltdown was triggered, a massive hole opens above you and the quickest way to escape would be to try your best to wall-jump outta there!
Maybe even some more advanced moves could be added, like sprinting and then crouching makes you slide, allowing you to fit into small cracks, and some more basic things could be done, like making swimming...fun... Why hold space when you could just use WASD/Arrow Keys? And maybe combat could be infused with the new movement system, maybe you can run up walls, jump off, and press Left-mouse-1 to do a backflip slash! But maybe the character's pixels would need to be increased, like 12-bit to 64-bit so something, to reduce confusion like "Is that crease my arm or leg?" Well, you get it, bigger characters with more detail, meaning better/smoother animations. Though the art aspect change might annoy some,It can't hurt to make a more detailed starbound, right?
We're still in the top suggestions, after all this time~ Keep on showing your support (and ideas!) , let your voices be heard!
Currently, nearly all of these concerns are addressed but techs: boost jump: double jump, Energy dash: dash, morphball: crawling/small spaces, bubbleboost/butterfly boost: sprinting, climbing ropes/grappeling hooks: climbing and swinging. Incidentally, the butterfly and bubble boost techs make wall jumping and ledge grabbing completely unnecessary, as does the range at which you can place wooden platform you can jump upwards through. While such capabilities would be fun, they are entirely unnecessary given the games current mechanics and so would be utterly redundant. I doubt then that we will see any of these suggestion implemented since all of their functions and purposes can already be accomplished by multiple means.
I remember when a moderator was talking about how "we don't need grappling hooks" and spurt tons of bollocks last year. Then grappling hooks were announced within a week. ;] Keep in mind most of the things asked for here aren't for functionality. Since, this is a game anyways.
