The birds chirped, the trees swayed, and the sun was sinking below the horizon. A crater was at the edge of the forest, caused by a metal object from the sky. The object was smoldering from its recent entry of the atmosphere, charring the grass. Hours passed, and the last rays of light had left the horizon; it was night. The birds were silent, the trees had stopped swaying The hunk of metal cooled down, and a massive chunk of it fell off. Inside was a living chassis, a sentient composition of metal. It stepped out of the metal chunk, and pivoted in a circle. "Any sentient life?" it asked itself, as it scanned its surroundings. A flash of red came from a thin band on its head, indicating a negative. "Nothing, huh?" the chassis sighed to itself. It began to ramble through the forest, swaying its flashlight left and right for signs of life. There was nothing but trees and grass. The living metal continued to walk on, becoming more dejected as time passed. Then, there was a change to the boredom. There was a note on a particularly colossal tree. No eyes, it said. <----End of Part1
*switching over to normal font now. Too much of a hassle to switch all the time. And yes, my geography is wrong. The structures are not positioned as stated in the story. "Huh," the machine muttered. It took the scrap, and scanned it. DNA was present, belonging to an unidentified life form. The writer's age was around 5 years, although the note itself was at least 20 years more. The living scrap pocketed this, and a notifier popped up. Sentient life detected. Possible Danger: Yes. Chance of fatality: 100%. Suggestion: Flee to different area. Don't have my weapon, the machine thought. The machine closed the dossier and performed another scan. Another red light flashed, signalling a negative. Something wasn't quite right... A loud booming sound echoed faintly in the machine's ears. It obviously was not the heartbeat of the chassis; it was made with no organs. The hunk of metal began to jog. The trees seemed to grow unbelievably fast, as if the branches were aiming to cover the already dim sky of the remaining light. There was a structure in the distance, a tunnel of smooth stone. Inside, there was another page. It took the page, which said "Don't look at it, or it takes you." Odd. Outside, the branches covered the starlight almost completely. Only thin pockets of light pierced through, and the torch (or flashlight) had begun to flicker. Nearby, several pillars of petrified wood stood. Another note was tacked onto one of these pillars, saying "Leave me alone." This continues on, the machine jogging faster, the notes becoming progressively more illegible. A low rumbling sound vibrates from the ground itself, and the booming almost completely drowns out the audio receptors. Finally, the last note said this: "Help me." Warning, master control system corrupted. Afternotes: This was the worst fanfiction I have done so far, and I will probably refurbish this in the future. However, I am currently over-encumbered by the busy schedule I have now, so for now, ta-ta.
