Pokemon team made a video about the news we've been hearing for the past week if you guys are interested.
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-141203470 Whoa this battle was hard. I kinda messed up in the start but I won in the end I guess.
WHAT IS THIS SOMETHING VAGUELY FAMILIAR WHERE HAVE I SEEN THIS BEFORE? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Progress update: May gives me hell every single time in the second fight. I always have a bad team for the battle. I am always too impatient to grind on wilds. So I lose last night because crits(probably would have lost anyway), and then today: 1:47 PM - Kitty Box: I beat may without getting shrekt by crits or rekt by my crappy team for once 1:48 PM - Kitty Box: ...shet I just used the pokemon center again without thinking 1:48 PM - Kitty Box: gg me 1:48 PM - Kitty Box: gg 1:48 PM - Kitty Box: *soft reset* It was destined to happen.
Ash betrays Meloetta with Diancie. Good job Ash, ignoring hot chicks like Dawn or really attractive Pokemon like Gardevoir and straight going for the weird once wearing either a headset 24/7 or just being made out of crystalls. Mhhh I hope theres a short skirted made dress as "cosplay" outfit... I would definitly... ehm you can immagine on which one I would use it. Edit 1: A fight of ImmortalFrog and me using my new Colress team. Not going to spoil in it, but the ending is rather interesting. Kinda getting into the use of stickywebs... might make a Sigma labeled team, that electric tarantula is cool... and I got a ton in Dwarf Fortress Masterwork of them. http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ou-141292516
Dam you Showdown... DAMN YOU!!! First ya eat a team I can't remember how to rebuild & anger me for a few weeks, but when I return to you, YOU WON'T LET ME BACK INTO MY OWN ACCOUNT!!! Screw Pikachu Dress Up... I just wanna know if we're gonna get to keep Super Training.
I know Pokemon Amie is gonna be in the new games, so I hope that means Super Training will be added too.
Ugh, more people using that annoying as hell move. Why did Gamefreak even introduce hazards to begin with? Why?! It makes a lot of pokes a lot less interesting for teamups because they just die to stealthrock. And Sticky web? It just screws up every fragile sweeper ever. In my opinion, it has no right to exist. ./rant
I guess Stealth Rock / Spikes are good because they introduce a style of playing in which you try to force the opponent to switch a lot, which spices up the game a little. I just wish it didn't do so much damage to Pokemon that are weak to rock. Like geez it's not fun having my Volcarona lose 50% of its HP just by coming in. EDIT: Also, they should really give more Pokemon the ability to learn Rapid Spin / Defog. That would definitely make entry hazards a little less bothersome.
Alright, someone had to say it. Can you stop with these sorts of posts? I think we get the point. I might be the only one, but I like seeing Pokémon game discussion here, not Poképhilia.
It doesn't "spice up" the game. it makes a big number of pokes useless once it's up, forcing you to have a spinner/defogger if you want one of these pokes. I mean, Spikes are fine, so are Toxic Spikes. Toxic can be absorbed, spikes need 2-3 layers to be good. The other two? you use one turn to bring them up, bam, your enemy has to scramble to remove them if their team relies on it. So stupid.
Yeah, I see what you mean. What if they made Stealth Rock normal type? Then you could switch in a Ghost type Pokemon to block them, just like blocking Rapid Spin.
And then they go and change the breeding mechanics so that the offspring will inherit the mother's Pokeball. As someone who prefers to ONLY house Pokemon in Poke Balls, this has been an issue I have to account for when breeding. I wish Game Freak would have just implemented a system where you could use a ball from your backpack to replace the Poke Ball that the Pokemon was caught with, while discarding the original ball. That way people who want all their Pokemon to be in fancy balls could do so without people exploiting the mechanic to keep getting their Mater Ball back. I await your job offer, Game Freak. That's just it, they're a distraction. Half the fun of using them is getting your opponent to switch from focusing on you to focusing on getting rid of the hazards. While they're getting rid of them, you can be setting up something or taking out potential counters for your sweeper. I like to think of it as a turn I pay early on in the game that is repaid later when the opponent uses Rapid Spin or Defog to get rid of the hazards. That being said, I would love for more Pokemon to have access to Rapid Spin and Defog. Especially in-game since as of now, Defog can only be taught in previous generations. Trying to build an in-game team right now is severely limiting... Maybe I should just play VGC. You're right. This really isn't the place for that sort of discussion. I think it's safe to say that there isn't a lot of interest in that sort of discussion here, so it feels a bit displaced. There's nothing wrong with it, but there is a time and place for everything. The SLCFR really isn't that place.
Yeah, mmmmhno. If your pokemon halfway DIES from it, it's not a "Distraction". Neither is it a "distraction" when your entire team is suddenly slower. Als, why aren't you on steam, snowman. Edit: Snowman, I mean it. Get on steam. I have things to discuss.
From a technical nitpicky standpoint, it really is a distraction from whatever my plans are in the battle if you're thinking about how you're going to get rid of them. That being said, there's only a select few Pokemon who are "half dead" when you switch in on Stealth Rocks. The fact that they are really good Pokemon is why they're such an issue. Sticky Web is crippling for hyper offensive teams that rely on Speed, no doubt, but for balanced teams the Web is really only a problem for your Pokemon that live and die by Speed. It means you're restricted to your bulkier Pokemon until you can get rid of it, which underlines my point in how it forces your opponent's hand. It's a problem, but it's manageable. I don't think anyone's arguing that it would be nice if it was MORE manageable. As it is now, team building is unfortunately constrained to either having a Pokemon that can take care of hazards, or to build a team that doesn't worry about them. The fact that there are limited options for Pokemon that handle hazards is the only issue I have with hazards. I think it's only fitting that since there are so many hazards, there should be more options to get rid of them. Nerfing the hazards isn't the way, in my opinion.
I disagree. Stealth Rock, in particular, needs a nerf. 50% dmg in total is too much imho. They should tone it down a stage in my opinion (25% for 4x effective and so on)
