Silver Armor Before UFO -- What?

Okay so I have around 50 silver ingots, an iron anvil, furnace, and crafting table.
Even when I uncheck the "Have Materials" the highest I can make is iron. Period.

I played MP and once we defeated the UFO with full iron stuff, only then did gold, silver, and steel options
open up to this. Is this intended? I'm not calling you liars, or saying there is a bug. I just want to know wtf.. Because
as it is my iron hunting bow and iron armor don't stand a chance against this thing. Bombs hurt it but I only had a precious few.

 

Silver armor requires copper armor as well.

 

Oh. I thought you could only make silver stuff at the Metalwork Station?

 

DONT DO SILVER! Get snow infantry armor. Its easier to get than silver, and its better.
And for weapons, I suggest rare special weapons (for example, I used a bonehammer).
Also, don't forget bandages!

 

I agree, silver and gold are both fairly soft metals that should be easily workable without that fancy Metalwork Station. Also: I'm sorry to burst penguin's bubble, but Snow Infantry Armor is about to be nerfed, which makes me sad, too.

Get a bunch of leather and build the Loom. (Until next update, then who knows)

 

Nope, it works at the anvil. I didn't rely on leather, so it can be done. Just make sure you have 10 - 13 armor pen weapons.

 

But this is the problem.

Even if I require copper armor to make silver armor, iron armor recipes show up (which also require copper armor) when I un-check have materials.
So maybe this explains it a bit better? If I un-check "Have Materials" it should show me everything that station can create regardless of whether I have copper or iron armor
pre-reqs. The Iron is there. But not the Silver or Gold. Not sure if I could word this better..

what doesn't make sense is it gives me the option to craft right up to diamond pickaxes, but only up
to iron armor - regardless of any mats I have (unchecking have mats) and even if I have a full suit of copper
armor in my inventory (I have like 300 copper ingots so np) the only option available is the Iron one - which is
a waste, sadly, because I need copper to upgrade to silver, than use silver->gold->steel.

 

I had the snow armor from the yarn spinner and still died. Managed to kill him with one death though. Be sure to have lots of bandages, will make it easier to survive.

 

Is the snow armor still good after the patch? I thought it was nerfed. I'll check it out and see if it's AP 10 or not..

 

Make a arena
aquire either the dash tech or jump boost tech
then if you have dash tech get jump boost stimpack
or vice versa if you got jump boost tech
get losta bandages
aquire a good melee weapon or a good ranged weapon
use your new mobility to dodge all of his attacks.

Gold armor and up is crafted at the Metalworks Station and you don't need any previous armors to craft it.

As for silver, I dunno, maybe don't mess with the have materials checkbox? Silver should be near the bottom of the list of craftable materials at the anvil.

 

Pretty sure its getting nerfed after the next patch that wipes the saves, it was just added in the irritated koala patch.

 

you only get the silver armor blueprints when you craft the corresponding copper armor (helmet for helmet bp etc.)

though what will happen after the next patch is anyones guess since it's such a huge overhaul.
