It's a minor thing, sure, but one we definitely need. Simple items, crafted out of wood planks or even just with pixels, that allow you to write a message on them after being placed. You or other players can then read this message in a pop up when the sign is activated, same as talking to an NPC. I play on a mutiplayer "city building" server. We've all expressed the desire to be able to communicate with one another via signs, whether they be temporary messages like "don't build above this, I'm adding onto it later" or "the crops are free to take, just replant the seeds" or simple plaques on structures that credit the creator.
Devs, ADD THIS NOW I don´t know how to code, but it can´t be that hard to take the same setup they have for NPC´s and put it in something else... or can it? TUNTUNTUNTUNTUUUUUN
Alternatively, you could maybe have a Labeller tool, so that you could also label buttons in your control center, without having some simpleton wooden sign break the style of your High-Tech build. Like say, Hmm, my Tagger-Gun idea... If referring to my own idea is breaking rules, or somehow bringing about discomfort, please tell me. I want the same as all of you, a Better game. If you allow it Squiver, I can also post a link to it.
Gotta sign on this one for sure Signs or signposts or anything really along this line is a must I gotta say. Heck even if it's a lil computer monitor you can stick onto things and give it a msg.
Link to my Tagger-gun (or labeller) Alternative: http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?threads/tagger-gun.61183/ With kind Permission of Original Poster on this thread. If I am breaking forum rules by posting a link to my own idea, please tell me, and I will gladly remove it.
Should indeed also be added! Devs, add everything in this thread. Wooden Signs, Pixelated-Message boards, Labeller Tool, all the things!
I think signs should be another type of furniture, that you can craft from the gems/metals/woods you find. That way if you've got a high-tech build you don't need to have a wooden sign, and if you have a medieval village then you don't have to use futuristic signs. And then also monitors, because monitors are cool.
But still, can be quirky having to fit in signs in between all the buttons of your command center to label what they do. Thus, the Labeller tool would be nice to have too.
First I wanted to contribute to this discussion but after reading alls the posts, everything I want to say is: Add all the things!
I do grow tired of rummaging through a million chest before finding the one I wanted. So yes, signs are a must.
