I would very much like to see something like Sieges! -

Where a GIANT horde of some hostile monsters come and attack your outpost for building on the planet and disturbing their peace!

They could happen occasionally once landing on a planet till you have been there a long time - or they start raiding once you have a big enough base with enough people - or both?!

And then there is the opposite idea YOU can lead a siege with special NPCs and fight - say a den of monsters or a space pirate outpost?

With this there could be automated weapons - and traps! :D

Tell me what ya think :3

    Hell yeah!
Sieges would be kinda fun, hopefully more complex than Terraria's terrible little goblin invasions, those are just a waste of time with horrible rewards.
There could be different sieges with different levels of difficulty, the difficulty would depend on what galaxy your in (or something like that)
And hopefully a giant pile of money and equipment will be obtained after each siege.

Also, sieging others sounds pretty fun, it would require a lot of organisation, and strong allies.
The risks for sieging others could be pretty high, you can be 'careful' and bring less NPCs, but that would cause the death of the whole group,
or be feeling brave and charge in with all you've got leading to small amounts of casualties and piles of loot.

    Good thread.

Thank you Zailiner - Glad that you liked my idea - I would have to agree, if they add sieges into this game they better be WAY more in depth and different difficutally levels and the likes.

    Thanks for you thoughts.

This would also be a good time to put the Distress Signal suggestion to work.

Sieges sound awesome. Monster coming in with futuristic catapults to blow the heck out of your base and reduce it it ash :p

probably should save that for high danger level planets. lol

Especially if you were on Multiplayer, then you could get some of your friends to help out. Although, if they did manage to blow your base up in the end, would be a bummer.

yep. but sieges without a way of destroying your base in a game that dosnt require you to eat or expand other resources could get really boring. if there are 100000 monster out side but they cant get in, and you have no real need to get outside then its just a stalemate.

I know, but it could be a real pain in the ass to repair your base every time.

Sieges? No. (But if you want to fire someone from it, why not, lol)
The best option is charging into a group of enemies in a mech that have equipped two swords :giggle:
    Although it's only my opinion.

That's always the downside to this idea. It's not just the repair bill it's forgetting which way your dining room was facing. Maybe if destroyed buildings leaved behind rubble to remind you of what was there before.
